Check out the second answer in this Houston Chronicle article http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5533458.html
Re: Very encoraging statement from Garber Yes, it is just a matter of how soon the money will come. That's why the Governor's press conference was so big, it pledged that no matter where or when, the Commonwealth would find the money.
Re: Encoraging statement from Garber [Houston Chronicle, Feb 12th] And now for the logistics of the allocation of the state moneys to be worked out. They spent three years working for a stadium in PA alone? Or would Garber also be including their efforts with Rowan....
Re: Encoraging statement from Garber [Houston Chronicle, Feb 12th] Believe it or not, there has been a lot of beneath the surface movement on this for a long time. The last 12 months, and 6 in particular, have just been the tip of the iceberg. The group stayed mum and out of the press for a long time. The reason being, I believe, that it is easier to fight one opponent, than numerous battles. The naysayers would have had too long to pick the plan to death instead of letting a historic marriage of private and public funds mature.
Re: Very encoraging statement from Garber "Finalized" is a nice word to hear. OK, Garber, let's hear that in the Inqy!
Re: Very encoraging statement from Garber We just went through a three-year process in Philadelphia, which we finalized. It's probably the best deal that we have in the league, north of $80 million in public funding for a stadium, but it took a great deal of effort and lots of work with the governor's office, the state (Pennsylvania), county (Delaware) and city (Chester). Oh.... yeah.....I think I just.....uh...that would be TMI. Let's just say Garber makes me happy when he talks like that. NIIIIIIICE!!!!!
Re: Encoraging statement from Garber [Houston Chronicle, Feb 12th] The money is not allocated, a mistake a lot of people are making. Fast Eddie had a favorable photo op for a news conference that was about something nicer than turnpike tolls. Harrisburg's share of the cost remains nothing more than hot air from a governor that I don't care for. Garber would be wise to chill until the state money is actually authorized and transfered.
Well, let me be the first non-Philadelphian to say congrats! If I'm not the first, well, too bad. Anyway, it's looking like a done deal for you guys and I'm sure that your support has helped move things along.
"but it took a great deal of effort and lots of work with the governor's office, the state (Pennsylvania), county (Delaware) and city (Chester)." What about those AMAZING SoB's?!?
