According to Goff.
Can we buy all of Olimpia goalies too?
Does this signal the end of the panicking or just initiates the next round (i.e, that's not enough, we have 32 days, 12 hours, and 32 minutes to get these guys on the field)?
the internet was basically invented for widespread message board panicking...thanks for nothing al
Good to see that they finally signed a forward.
We still don't have viable wingers (on the left or right, Gros still can't cross), ErpFu would be much better in a Stopper position than playing out wide in a 3-back formation, and who do we have as a 3rd striker when Moreno tires? Not to mention we still don't know the fate of Brian (although it's recently been hinted he will still be around). I'd say the time to panic has just begun! Save me John Kerry!
It's a good first step, but yes, we do need another couple of players. It's nice to have someone on the dotted line though.
I'd still like to see us sign a right mid if we're not going to resign Donnet, but this is great news for now!
I just realized that this guy scored 8 goals in the 8 games for Olimpia during the Copa Interclubes (the tournament to qualify for the CCC in Central America). He scored against all 4 teams that they matched up against in the home/away series. Half of his teams goals. This really helps us, but REALLY hurts Olimpia.
Just initiates the next round ...
I think Gros can cross, but is better crossing from the right than the left. I also think McTavish will see some time on the wings this year. Our draft picks include a couple of players who may compete for the wings as well.
As for ErpFu, he might be able to play the role that Ben Olsen plays, but he's not dependable enough defensively and he's just not good enough defensively in space to take over Brian Carroll's role. We could probably try ErpFu at left winger though and slide Gros over to right winger. I don't expect us to score a lot from crosses, but it would be a nice element of attack to add.
Wow, those are the stats? DC United is going to be a force!
Assuming that the wikipedia updates i saw were correct, yes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Interclubes_UNCAF_2006 That's pretty amazing, and a full 50% of the goals that his team scored in getting to the finals (losing on penalty kicks). I didn't realize the guy was playing THAT well.
We still need to make a lot of additions to have a viable team for the CCC. I'm pretty sure we've offloaded more players this offseason than after our championship (although Nelsen and Stewart were big departures). And in that competition we wound up playing Van Sicklen, Stokes and Guppy in our big international embarassment at Pumas.
We might have picked up some great talent from the rookies we got Friday but it's much too early to tell.
But signing Luciano Emilio is a step in the right direction. Does anyone remember reading how big he is (height and weight)?

ALL YOUR GOALSCORERS ARE BELONG TO US!
There is a German wikipedia link :
It also has a picture link of him :
I've seen both of those links before, but i can't for the life of me find out the height of this guy.
i found a site that has him at 178 cm. thats about 5'7"??
ok - well that takes care of the target forward. What's next, outside midfielders?
Any oompa-loompas out there?
Actually, it's about 5'10". So not a behemoth, but not someone who is going to get thrown around by the Ritchie Williams' of the world either.
the online conversion calculator it at 5.83ft
Interesting. 1 inch is 2.54 centimeters. Doing the math from that calculation gives you 70 inches, or 5'10", almost exactly.
Edit: And I just used an online calculator, which gave me 70.1 inches ...... or 5'10".
I see what you did. You are looking at it wrong. 5.83 is expressed not as feet and inches, but as feet and the percentage of the next foot (if you know what i mean). It's not 5 ft and 8 inches you are seeing. It's 5 feet and .83 of another foot. And .83 of a foot would be 10 inches.
