Its time for Soccer Fans to do something about it and write to Sunil Gulati to approve NASL for the sake of Soccer in the United States. Email USSF Presidente Sunil Gulati at: skg21@columbia.edu Tell him not to be a puppet of MLS and to do the right thing for the sport in America! Rejecting NASL would mean losing teams and fans! Do the right thing Approve NASL! http://football-miami-n-beyond.blogspot.com/2009/12/email-sunil-gulati-to-approve-nasl.html
Here is Gulati's response. The email works, Do it! From: skg21@columbia.edu Subject: RE: Approve NASL Date: Wed, 9 Dec 2009 12:01:31 -0500 Dear Sir: Thank you for your email and the thoughts contained therein. Regards, Sunil Gulati
AW: Email Sunil Gulati to approve NASL! im sure he'd love to approve NASL. More concerned with the potential of legal issues and USL taking legal actions.
Respuesta: Re: Email Sunil Gulati to approve NASL! True. It'll let the USSF know our voices on this will be heard, one way or another.
More sites have picked up on this! The Kartik Report http://thekartikreport.wordpress.co...mpa-bay-and-baltimore-for-breach-of-contract/ MLS Rumors http://www.mls-rumors.net/5074/2009...-and-grassroots-nasl-approval-campaign-forms/ Send your emails to Sunil Gulati! skg21@columbia.edu
Here's the response I got: Sounds less like an auto-response. Of course, by this point he may have just set his auto-response to always assume that you're e-mailing about NASL sanctioning.
via the MLS-rumors link "One thing is for certain: Alec Papadakis and NuRock have officially put Sunil Gulati, Dan Flynn and the Federation in a very unenviable position." by forcing USSF to make such a decision will burn so many bridges between USSF and USL that i feel that they'd be burying themselves. Especially if they cost the US the World Cup, i could see things going even worse for USL. At least at that point we might see USSF step in and take a larger role in setting up the leagues. either way, USL seems to be shooting themselves in the foot (to quote a poster on MLS-rumors)
I think its all but assured NASL will get div 2 sanction..... just look at the state of USL its over for them and was when TOA left usl.... div 2 status will soon be given...
We can't be too sure that NASL will be sanctioned thats why its important to email Gulati and let him know we support the new league. Already a few of us have received responses, so I urge those that haven't emailed to do so. Email Sunil Gulati! skg21@columbia.edu
Lots of folks have received diffrent answers from Gulati so It looks like he is actually reading the emails. Keep emailing people and pass it on! Hopefully this will be resolved soon so that the teams can start concentrating on players and the season ahead. Here is some intresting info on USL http://football-miami-n-beyond.blogspot.com/2009/12/usl-1-in-review-look-back-at-history.html
He's definitely reading them individually, in case there was any doubt left. Mine included both a statement of where I stood and a thank you for taking the time to make sure they came to a carefully thought out and robust decision, and his response explicitly thanked me for my support.
Then he will have one more person's confirmation that the fans care enough about the future of the sport to want to see a good resolution, and that much more of a sample of what fan opinions are. Go for it.
I have added my take for Mr. Gulati. We fans in Orlando have special interest in getting the NASL sanctioned, since USL has screwed us as far as the second tier is concerned.
And here it is: Dear Sir: Thanks for your email. We are reviewing the matter and will make the best possible decision for the interests of the sport. Regards, Sunil Gulati
It's hard not to be repetitive when people aren't saying anything different from the last one. I'm sure he's got a default response, but it isn't an auto-reply since some people don't get the default. (I didn't.) That means he's reading them, which is awesome.
I sent an e-mail with my opinion of the situation and which 2nd division league I will support (NASL). We'll see what response I get.
True. It might not be him personally. But still, it means somebody cares what the fans think (even if they aren't planning to listen), which gives them coolness points in my book.
Just got a response: Mr. [my last name]: Thanks for your email and the thoughts therein. There are a many factors that US Soccer is considering in reviewing the application before us. We’ll try to make the best decision for the development of the sport on the United States. Regards, Sunil Gulati
