I told the story some years ago - this is the first mention:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/sexism-the-non-rapey-stuff.2076481/#post-36000615

If you do a search for posts by me in P&CE containing the word "dingbat" you can get the continuing saga of "the guy who called my wife a dingbat when she was at Tesla years ago". Someone else brought up Archie Bunker back in the day as well.

Here and All in the Family are the only places I've seen that term used. I don't think I've ever heard anyone called a dingbat in real life.

I’d be impressed if he’d followed up and called smurfquake a meathead.

Saw my first Cybertruck the other day back home. It was jarring to see in person. It looked like it would be (and should be) illegal to drive on public roads.

I'm just gonna say it again, but the CyberTruck ain't it.

Related, the first time in my life, a Buick has caught my eye (The Envista). It's small enough for my taste but big enough for nature stuff.

Still not gonna buy a car long as my Honda works, though.

It's like the truck was built to be displayed, not driven.

I would say it is more likely the result of a “new” car manufacturer. Traditional car manufacturers likely had something similar in the past, had it come off and cause an accident. They now know not to do that.

I’ve never heard of an issue with an accelerator like Tesla’s.

And Tesla being a new company doesn’t excuse it from basic automotive concepts. A new car manufacturer should know some basic build quality. Something that Tesla’s been dinged for by any competent auto person, which includes a detailer, engineers, etc.

Rediscovering things from first principles which companies in the industry have known for decades is pure Silicon Valley.

My dad, who was a project manager in the auto industry, would probably have the Silicon Valley guys in tears because of things like this. And it would be because he'd think they're incompetent.

So many tech people I meet love trying to think they know everything because they can write some code. And it's why I don't think AI will ever live up to the hype it gets.

That's off-roading? I'm pretty sure I could take my Ford Fiesta through there.

I saw one a few weeks ago. It gave me powerful vector graphics video game vibes.

“Elon Musk’s X is a thriving hub for Nazi support and propaganda, with paid subscribers sharing speeches by Adolf Hitler or content praising his genocidal regime,” NBC Newsreports.

“NBC News found that at least 150 paid ‘Premium’ subscriber X accounts and thousands of unpaid accounts have posted or amplified pro-Nazi content on X in recent months, often in apparent violation of X’s rules. The paid accounts posting the content all consistently posted antisemitic or pro-Nazi material. Examples included praise of Nazi soldiers, sharing of Nazi symbols and denials of the Holocaust.”
