This SOB ...... Politico: “Musk’s latest flurry of innuendo, half-truths and lies online is making it increasingly clear that it is the tech mogul — and not just his platform — who poses the greatest challenge to governments struggling to rein in content that can incite extremist violence.” “Angry officials are trying to find levers to pull to influence the world’s richest man.”
Just Elon Musk quote tweeting the co-leader of far-right party, Britain First, who is sharing a fake Telegraph headline Seen by almost 1 million people in 15 minutesUtterly dystopian pic.twitter.com/4W5ZOssbEY— Josh Self (@Josh_Self_) August 8, 2024
Former head of Twitter in Europe calling on a potential Musk arrest warrant over the recent anti-immigrant riots. Several people have already been jailed for creating or sharing TikTok and X posts. A guy who falsely claimed to be running from rioters on a TikTok livestream got 3 months. Elon Musk should face arrest if he incited UK rioters, says ex-Twitter chief Bruce Daisley calls for ‘beefed-up’ online safety laws and compares tech billionaires to unaccountable oligarchs
The dude has a $160 M to spare and waste, I assure some "consultants" will happily help him spend it. “Beginning in the spring, Elon Musk quietly blocked out an hour on Fridays for a new pursuit: national politics,” the Wall Street Journal reports. “In weekly meetings, consultants and vendors for a super political-action committee updated him on their progress toward the discussed goal of turning out 800,000 people to vote for Donald Trump in battleground states. They proposed a budget of about $160 million they would need for the task, most of it to come from Musk himself, and talked about raising an army of more than 6,000 canvassers and other workers, according to people familiar with the matter.” “Then, less than three months after launching the effort, Musk signed off on firing most of the vendors, only for the super PAC to rehire one of them after the resulting chaos.”
BREAKING: The European Union has issued a formal letter to Elon Musk, demanding that he censor Donald Trump in their upcoming interview. The EU warns of "legal obligations" if Musk does not take action to prevent the spread of "disinformation." pic.twitter.com/jSnm43mW0M— Brian Allen (@allenanalysis) August 12, 2024
Fvcking Europeans, like they can do anything about it. Maybe we can finish what the Brits started in 1812, but in the legal courts of battle.
Nicole Wallace just had a segment on this issue and the amount of disinformation being spread by Mask and his platform. She interviewed among others the journalist who wrote the article below and Jocelyn Benson, the Michigan S of State. This is beyond disturbing. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/12/business/media/2024-election-disinformation.html
Massive tech issues delayed Trump Musk interview .... Elon Musk tried to interview Donald Trump on X but the livestream failed due to massive technical problems. Musk later said the interview would proceed “with a smaller number of concurrent listeners” and be posted later.
Apparently it was an “unmitigated disaster”… https://www.usatoday.com/story/opin...erview-x-twitter-spaces-disaster/74774628007/
‘Off-the-scale ignorance’: how Musk-Trump interview on X played out on social media | Elon Musk | The Guardian Elon Musk & Donald Trump FULL Conversation.Silences have been removed to save you time!NO content is cut.Must listen. pic.twitter.com/W1oKTqnMya— stevenmarkryan (@stevenmarkryan) August 13, 2024 The section on climate change in the Musk/Trump "interview" is just *wild*It really is worth reading in full to get a sense of the two men.Just off-the-scale levels of ignorance, denial, misinformation and half-truths.I've put the transcript herehttps://t.co/9M7qKX6Yrt pic.twitter.com/npEYvy9yeB— Leo Hickman (@LeoHickman) August 13, 2024 Happy to host Kamala on an 𝕏 Spaces too— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 13, 2024
Tim O’Brien: “Trump is slurring his words, and is unable to clearly enunciate S-words, in unusually messy ways during this Musk interview. He had trouble hearing at the NABJ convention and at his Mar-a-Lago presser. He has declined and aged noticeably over the last year.” David Frum: “Meandering, solipsistic, and crushingly boring—the interview was an awful premonition of the rest of Trump’s life should he lose again, in November: wandering the corridors of his clubs, going from table to table, buttonholing the dwindling number of guests, monologuing relentlessly until they squirm away.”
Trump: "Drill baby drill!" Elon responds, not really any urgency around climate change, he says... Musk: "we don't want to get too close to 1000 parts per million of CO2, it becomes hard to breathe, we still have quite a bit of time, we don't need to rush...it's not like the house is on fire immediately...but we mustn't vilify the oil and gas industry...people can still drive gasoline cars, it's okay, but we should lean in the direction of sustainable energy, I actually think solar will be the majority of energy generation in the future, we should use it to charge our cars...caring about the environment shouldn't mean that you have to suffer..." Trump: "...not every place is warming, some places are going in the other direction...maybe you can put solar panels on your (Tesla) roofs...I'm more worried about nuclear warming..." I'd say this breaks down along party lines. If you're a maga red hat, you probably felt okay about it. If you're on the left, it was a hard listen. Current admin getting hammered on the border, as you'd expect, it's her biggest vulnerability. But reports of him slurring or sounding like anything other than typical Trump, overblown. National : President: general election : 2024 Polls | FiveThirtyEight 538 had Kamala with a 2.8% lead yesterday, 2.7% today...this might've even been a little helpful for Trump.
