Yeah. We shouldn't expect L Ron's fanbois or AfD voters to be familiar with fascistic forms of government but as you point out, there was a high degree of state control over the economy - but not socialistic. The state did not own these companies for example.

What is really going on here is the AfD and MAGA continue to redefine words so they have no meaning except 'our enemies" ... examples include

    socialist
    woke
    globalist
    antisemitic
    etc

Are we on elrond or L. Ron now? Come on rsl m8... what's the word boss?

Anyway, if people wonder why I've been reading the Eye for a few years, this is an example of their work...

The National Socialists would not fit nicely in the American or modern Western right/left dichotomy.

He was certainly not a progressive socialist and he was certainly not a free-market conservative.

Well, no... he was a fascist :cautious:

He would use ANY group or system to extent his control of power.

Correct, which makes fascism hard to define. Anything is used.

I mean, the word for "free market" is "liberalism" which when it began was the opposite of the conservative monarchal system where the king granted charters for businesses. The word kind of morphed in meaning in America.

It sort of has to. If an American conservative goes nationalistic then they have to go back to the roots of the founding of the US which are chock full of classical liberal ideas - free speech, private property, rule of law, etc. If they go religious conservative then again it's back to sharing many values of classical liberalism since Protestantism was part of the development of those ideas.

All political terms are subject to interpretation. For instance liberal means centrist or lefty politically but righty economically. The UK Labour Party still pretends it's socialist but it's more of a social democratic/socialist alliance.

I guess Hitler was a populist even though he won power with 37% of the vote.

Is Elon Musk really a god-tier gamer? Or is he just paying other people to "boost" his accounts so he can claim to be god-tier? Well, we may have an answer to that. A game called Pillars of Eternity 2 was just recently released and Musk's character in that game is max level and decked out in the best equipment. This is something that would require hundreds of hours playing the game. However, in a stream Musk recently had on X, it appears like he doesn't really know the game.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...n-musks-characters-are-clearly-being-boosted/

The PoE community is kind of up in arms about this because boosting and account sharing are against the games Terms of Service and some are demanding he be banned. The issue with this is that having Musk play the game is incredible free advertising. He has a huge following on Twitter and everything he says there gets boosted quite a bit. Also, his core followers are also well within PoE's core players, so are definitely likely to pick up the game and spend tons of money on the game.

I'm wondering if Germany's next round of EV subsidies will be limited to EU produced models. The German Tesla factory only builds the Model Y.

That's not because "liberalism" changed its meaning, but conservatism changed what it was trying to conserve. Liberalism of commerce inevitably lead to liberalism of thought because they are connected. But when commerce became the center of power instead of kings, the people with that power went from being agents of change to agents of keeping things like they were.

I'm actually a little disappointed. I thought it was funny that Musk claimed to be a great father and hard worker when he actually devotes most of his time to gaming and his Twitter addiction.

So now we only have his Twitter addiction.

    .

    So, let's see what happens.

I mean, supporting a fascist to become potus is one thing. Investing in china where the Uighur are being opposed by the chinese authorities is another. Even interfering in European politics to push conspiracy theories is bad enough... but THIS is completely unacceptable...

Bannon probably doesnot know the founder of Apartheid, Verwoerd, in the 1920ies toured the southern states of the USA and learned about the segregation, in law and behaviour, there and thought that was a good idea to copy.
For those who don't know...Apartheid is the Afrikaan translation of segregation.

Elon is not going anywhere because he controls X and was a big part of getting Trump elected. Anyone angling to be the Republican's 2028 candidate will be working with Musk at some level.

I think that the most reasonable explanation is that :

    1. The character is clearly boosted which is cheating. And Elon doesn’t have time in his day to invest in such play time. Helll, I read he barely sleeps.
    2. How do we even know it is him? It could be anyone creating an account/ character posing as him.

I must have been watching the wrong video. I was watching one where someone was commenting on all the dumb things the person was doing.
