I have a feeling though that they’d still look like this.

They are still a good deal more expensive than gasoline and diesel buses though the lifetime costs are probably cheaper.

I was just showing the type and style, I sorta guessed they didn’t need the grill. :)
Still an old fashioned yellow uncomfortable box with a battery.

In other countries though, I'm guessing drivers won't mow down children so they will get where they are going 2 minutes. The big yellow vehicle means that the vehicular manslaughterer on the witness stand can't say he didn't know there were children around.

That's a good use for those batteries. Batteries for EVs have to be able to handle rattling and motion for the duration of their lifecycle, but if they can retire to a nice stationary location where they only charge and discharge, they can keep going.

For the podcast-listening crew, my wife was on a podcast which just came out in the last week or so. She's talking batteries. Episode 184 of the Shift Podcast: https://www.autonews.com/shift-podcast-mobility. I get mentioned as the guy who enjoys having a whole house battery backup so when PG&E can't deliver power I can still watch TV.

Honestly, this is a pretty minor criticism. When I pull into the garage, the display tells me there's a big ass truck right next to me, but it's actually the wall of the garage. The display only knows what a few things are (cars, trucks, people, orange cones) so everything it identifies with its cameras falls into one of those categories.

No, if we want to criticise Tesla, we should point out that NHTSA has issued a recall for every Tesla with "full self driving" (FSD) because it's dangerous. Which is what everyone has been saying all along. I haven't seen that Tesla is going to disable it via software, because that would lead to loud squawking from every chump who paid $10K or more for FSD, but I don't see how Tesla doesn't eventually disable it due to this recall.

And, Teslas keep plowing into emergency vehicles. Here's a story from this weekend:

    https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/tesla-fire-truck-crash-i-680-east-bay/3160984/

I'm assuming it was on FSD or autopilot although the article does not say so. This is a thing that keeps happening - FSD can recognize lots of hazards, but for some reason emergency vehicles with their lights flashing is not one of them, so there is a long list of incidents where Teslas plow into emergency vehicles at more or less full speed. At least the Tesla driver got killed in this one, so he (assuming it's a he, it usually is) won't be able to mis-use FSD in the future.

I was amazed to find out the whole area of driver assist is so unregulated?

Yeah.. Unfortunately, implementing new regulations take much longer than implementing new technologies. I can't remember what it is called, but US law is such that something is legal until a law is passed to make it illegal and the lobbyists are much better funded than the regulators are.

To be clear, FSD operates very well in ideal situations, like driving down a highway. It is when unusual situations occur, like when an emergency vehicle is stopped in the middle of the road, that FSD struggles. FSD also has issues identifying people that aren't average height, particularly children and people in wheelchairs. That's why it is required that vehicles that have assisted driving require that the driver have ahold of the wheel.

The other issue is with what Tesla calls it assisted driving software. Autopilot and Full Self Driving implies that the car can actually drive itself and the driver doesn't have to pay attention... Most people aren't going to hand driving over completely to the car, but enough do that it creates a safety issue.

I'd say loss of license for life would be a reasonable punishment for sleeping-while-driving. Maybe 100 lashes too.

So then she would need the self-driving grey dog to get around?
