1-1 German, 1-0 France, 0-1 Spain, and you are telling me a team like that can't get out of a group with Iraq, Jordan, and Singapore? Saddd.....more than technical skills, they gotta get a sports psychologist to fix their heads!!

LOL ok. Are we looking at today's team ?

I was thinking Huang Bowen instead of Qin Sheng, then everything else the same.

Zhao Peng has made everyone shut up today :D (even though he could have done more to prevent the goal but oh well)

The key difference between China and most teams who employ super defensive strategies against Spain was that China actually had at least 2 clear cut opportunities to score. If we look at Arsenal-Barcelona (I know it's not Spain, but the core of the team is the same), for example, Arsenal had 0 shots in the whole match.

First one, Zheng Zhi was dopey and didn't realise the goal was empty, that extra touch ruined the chances.

Second one was because Casillas is amazing and also had a bit of luck.

I can only see positives from this match as far as China is concerned.

Here's a little bit of trivial information by the way:

Vicente Del Bosque and José Antonio Camacho played together for Real Madrid and Spain and were both starters for club and country.

Hey guys I missed this match because of volunteer commitments. Saw the score and was a bit (pleasantly?) surprised; was fully expecting much worse due to Spain fielding the Barca crew. Did we play with 11 defenders? Or was this a fairly open match with broken finishes?

China defended with their lives but showed no fear on the counter, Zheng Zhi kinda screwed up an opportunity to score an open goal, Casillas later had to make an amazing save to deny China taking the lead after a one on one situation and Hao Junmin seriously tested the Real Madrid keeper with a long range effort.

The 2nd half was a bit more quiet for China, Sun Xiang took a free kick which tested Víctor Valdés. Zhao Peng and Zeng Cheng are now the most worshipped footballers in the whole of China.

Spain finally scored in the 84th minute.

seeing the four defenders doing flying tackles all over the place in the last ten mins showed me the long missing commitment that the team lacks for a long time...

zhou yi: i will heal you.

sidenote: anyone saw the part where camacho went out and bitched at the players, and zhou yi just sit there and watch him. camacho suddenly twist his head to zhou yi and finally the guy stand up and bitch at the players too?

makes me wonder the commitment level zhou yi has lol.

Wait. What did Zhao Peng do? Zeng Cheng, however, was amazing. :O I may have to start watching Chinese second division matches.

ntg.: You had excellent pre-match photo captions. I especially liked the one where the Chinese coach cops a feel of Iniesta.

Regarding the following photo: the girl is wearing the jersey/logo of which CSL/lower division club?

zhao peng is one of those players that rarely has a good game (most of the time bad). his heroic performance is during the asian cup where he played very admirably for the qatar team, assisting qatar twice and injuring himself after all substitutions were made, causing china more problem in the last ten mins LOL.

    NEXT MATCH:
    June 8th, 2012:
    China vs. Vietnam
    Venue: Wuhan, China.

the match will be hosted in the new Wuhan Stadium (that was designated to be one of the seven home stadiums for Team China)

i think Vietnam's top striker, Le Cong Vinh, will be playing in this game. this le cong dude has played in portugal for half a season, making him the first viet to play in europe. would be nice to see zhang chengdong play against him.

Hi fellas, Been some time since I last post. Hope everyone is doing well. Saw about 60mins of Spain match. Very organized and solid defensive work by china. The diff in technical ability is clear to see but then again it's against Spain, most teams are well inferior to them in that department. I was worried abt the possession stat though at 1 point, thinking will our team even get 10% lol, we can't seem to string 3-5 passes to counterattack effectively. Saying that we did have a couple of decent to good chances of getting a goal up on Spain. Of course when u think that they can bring someone like iniesta from the bench, 0-1 is pretty satisfactory result all things considered.

I predict we mess up against Vietnam.

The players still have overconfidence and cocky egos especially against 'weaker' teams.
