Updated thread title to accommodate the new changes to Olympics due to COVID-19. I wonder if this is a once-off thing or permanent. Olympic men's football age limit raised to 24 after Tokyo Games postponement
As some of you guys know. Enrico Hernadez (VItesse u21) a Selectatalent finding will be called to the U-20, We are also working on Marcus Velado-Tsegaye, and more to come... The work doesn't stop
Interesting news coming out at the end of the year. Would be nice to see someone with his scouting experience and vision for 2026. Somethings are too good to be true though so not trying to overreact to this. Would be nice to see him take the senior team over after seeing progress with the u23 and u17. Let’s see what comes out of this. https://abc7.news/hugo-perez-the-fesfut-offered-me-the-sub-23-and-i-said-yes.html https://www.laprensagrafica.com/dep...b-23-y-les-he-dicho-que-si-20201230-0074.html
Chances are very low. He wants a long term contract and project. He said he's better off where he is now since Mexico's federation contract and project is long term.
A few familiar faces committing their future to the El Salvador U-23 side, with former #LAFC F Josh Perez & current #Quakes74 M Eric Calvillo announced.#LaSelecta fans can expect @SelectaTalent & Co. to bring in more North America-based players before qualification begins. https://t.co/cGPqmxntVL— Jon Arnold (@ArnoldcommaJon) January 4, 2021
I wonder how many more players there are? I liked the attacking half of our team as it is. I know Calvillo is a wide back just not sure which side. And obviously Perez is an attacking side (he better not start Hugo ) so let’s see who else decides to come that are eligible for this Olympic side.
For the U.S. Youth teams and SJ Earthquakes there was a lot of hype about Gilbert Fuentes. I wonder if El Salvador U24s or lower will take a look at this player?
Looks like they came to an agreement. Hopefully it works out. 1347558709405253632 is not a valid tweet id
Christian Sorto is the latest Salvadoran-American to make the switch to El Salvador U23. In this roster he joins Gilbert Fuentes, Eric Calvillo and Edgar Alguero; all of San Jose Earthquakes. Keen to see Joshua Perez and Enrico Hernandez join the team soon.
The latest addition to ES U-23 is New Jersey-born goalkeeper Tomas Romero of LAFC. This team is slowly becoming stacked with more expatriates. It’d be interesting if Allexon Saravia (Loudoun United) and Jose Hernandez (Cavalry FC) both get called up soon.
Found a decent attempt at a summary of the friendly the sub 23 had with Metapan. I wish they had a lot more details especially about those players that came from MLS. I really liked that they played in three 30 minute portions so they can try different things. They are finally trying a formation (4-3-3) different than the typical defensive lineup we see la selecta play. Sounds like Luis Canales was very active and a threat to score. Hopefully we get more info from the next friendly. https://www.elgrafico.com/futbol/Me...ima-a-la-seleccion-sub-23--20210203-0027.html I hate to admit it but I’m slowly getting my hopes up even though we continue to get our hearts broken. There is finally some good work being done here in preparation for a tournament. Let’s see if Enrico and others can be difference makers out there once they are able join up this process.
Not really a bad result in my opinion. They're going against a club where they're trying to be a successful competitive club in the league again, a coach that's trying to prove himself after being kicked out of Alianza FC, and they just brought in some players from outside the country they wanted to test out. Metapan players had a season to play together, while the U23 some of the players have inconsistently been playing for their clubs and this is their first match together. Overall Metapan is just more physically prepared and have more playing time with the season just ending for them. I would like the U23 to play more matches with the first division clubs whether it's the 1st team or reserve team. Just to have more experience together as a team, build up more playing time to get back into form, and getting use to playing with more experienced players.
I feel optimistic too. It’s clear they’re actively working to increase the depth pool by bringing in overseas players and with Hugo Perez on board. Keen to see Enrico and Joshua Perez join the team in March. I wonder who else too; maybe Alexis Cerritos if he finds a new club.
Enrico is in luck. Hugo and half the players will be able to communicate with him fluently in English. That should help Enrico a lot on field to adapt quick with the team in communication during plays.

El Salvador U23 lost 4-1 in a friendly match against CD FAS, which included Gullit Peña of Mexico. Video of his goal below for those curious: #FASPrimer gol del "Gullit" Peña con C. D. In that video it was terrible defending on the U23 side. At 00:21 that player struggled to clear a ball or could have just done a simple follow through pass on the wing. At 00:35 you'll see some players gasping for air while they're walking. Some of them hunched over trying to catch their breath. With CD FAS players in that moment breathing normally. Makes me wonder how prepared this U23 team is. 4-1 might be reasonable seeing how well CD FAS players, but there's no full match video or long highlights, and the clip alone isn't enough.
Well it was only 28 minutes into the match when that goal was scored... #FASMin. 28 | Gooooooooooool de Carlos "El Gullit" Peña.C. D. FAS 2-0 El Salvador Sub-23 pic.twitter.com/57S9IZGxn6— Club Deportivo FAS (@CDeportivoFAS) February 9, 2021
