Author note: This is a thread for news, player updates and any other sections that don't fit in any category, example youth players in college level or academy levels abroad, players that have salvadoran blood but are either playing at a low level of football or haven't aligned to any players, news about INDES, updates on stadiums etc.
Players playing abroad with Salvadoran blood, or playing at a lower level that don't qualify for the Salvadoran abroad thread. MLS Eriq Zavaleta - Toronto FC Costa Rica Juan Arellano (Salvadoran mother and Mexican Father) - Cartagines Christian Martinez (Salvadoran father/ Costa Rican Mother) - Saprissa Nicaragua Nahun Matinez - Real Madriz Guatemala (2nd division) Jose Tobar - Asunción Mita

There is Salvadoran-backed club in Sweden called Salvadoranska FC. https://instagram.com/salvadoranskafc?utm_source=ig_profile_share&igshid=7zy7pll3gfb Reminds me of Aguiluchos USA and the briefly-lived club in Melbourne called La Selecta Victoria.
Oh nice such a shame our first division club can't be bothered setting up scouting networks, feeder clubs or partnership with clubs like this.
Agreed. The ethnic clubs in Australia have done it right and capitalised. The Croatian, Italian, Greek and Serbian-backed clubs have offered pathways for players to Europe and vice versa, thanks to their blood relations with the motherland. Salvadoranska FC should be an excellent opportunity for sending Salvadorans to Sweden and vice versa.
Players called up in the under 20 squad who plays abroad, so players to watch Gabriel Escobar plays for Vancouver Whitecaps Academy, previously played for the under 17 side Erick Garcia plays for Club America youth side Ronald Cerritos Jr plays for Houston Dynamo youth side
Alexis Cerritos’ DC United Academy teammates Allexon Saravia and Emerson Amaya are both Salvadoran-Americans. https://www.instagram.com/p/BY1_JiIlqNu/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=17u91hgefj65d
Update on Salvadoran-Australian midfielder Eduardo Castaneda (born 2000 and from Hobart). He has joined A-League team Brisbane Roar’s youth squad. Still too early to get excited about him (remember Gian Tapia was a Melbourne Victory junior at one point), but this is very positive news. For those of you who are not yet aware of him, he was a part of Australia’s U-17 squad; making him the first Salvadoran to represent Australia. https://www.brisbaneroar.com.au/player/eduardo-castaneda Eduardo Castaneda joins rare soccer ranks as first male national rep in 17 years
Hopefully he can be the first Salvadoran-Australian to play in the A-League. He’d be the second to play in Australia’s top division, after Oscar Zamora who played for Canberra Cosmos in the 1997/98 NSL season. PS. I’m pleasantly surprised to know there are Salvadorans in Hobart, let alone Tasmania haha (beautiful state, if you haven’t visited yet).
A U-14 team of Salvadoran-Americans from Pico-Union (including players of Mexican, Guatemalan and Honduran descent) won a tournament comprising of 48 other teams. Downtown Los Angeles SC is the team. Equipo de salvadoreños, campeón en Estados Unidos
Update on Eduardo Castaneda, former Australia U-17 and Brisbane Roar junior, who currently plays for Magpies Crusaders in Australia’s second division. Last night, he started and played 90 minutes in Crusaders’ first FFA Cup match and won 2-1. FFA Cup is Australia’s version of Copa del Rey and FA Cup etc. He is the second Salvadoran-Australian to play in this national tournament after Gian Tapia. Castaneda is at the second top right corner. Interested to see who Crusaders plays next. @BKR inC @Willsant87 which NPL team do you guys support?
Mt Druitt Town Rangers, grew up in that area & played for them in my teens my brother & cousin did too. Actually went out to watch their FFA Cup game with my brother the other day.
The one positive in our football since I have been following it has been Joel Aguilar Chicas. He has been very professional despite all the abuse thrown his way. He has ref’d at the highest levels of the game and not been overtaken by the occasion. He has made mistakes from time to time but given how difficult it is to be a referee in El Salvador with all the negativity thrown your way I really admire the work he does. I honestly don’t know how anyone could handle the pressure of refereeing important games in which fans start throwing things at you it really is impressive they stick with the job Here is a video of him talking to some of Sonsonate’s players about keeping the game clean. It really can affect their livelihood if they sustain a major injury given there are a lot of teams that will just cut injured players rather than pay their medical expenses. The league does need a players union to fix some things but mainly the dirty play needs to be pushed against no good comes of it and I am glad he goes around talking to the players about expectations Esta mañana ,se tuvo una charla sobre reglas en el fútbol.Impartidas por el Lic.Joel Antonio Aguilar Chicas pic.twitter.com/7nwvP3BD0n— Sonsonate FútbolClub (@Sonsonatefc) July 23, 2019
Eduardo Castaneda’s started and played the entire match in Magpies Crusaders’ 4-0 loss in the FFA Cup; in which the team is now eliminated. I attended tonight’s match, and tried calling out his name several times but he didn’t hear me
Gian Tapia has signed with Pascoe Vale FC, in Australia’s second division NPL VIC. https://www.instagram.com/p/B3wUtKRJOko/?igshid=179kyunx8r7qm
Jose Aguilar Chicas will likely be retiring in 2020. Speaking of 2020 hopefully Trucha updates the threads for next year soon. He says he ref’d his last final it was the second division final. https://www.elgrafico.com/futbol/Jo...olvera-a-dirigir-una-final-20191230-0002.html
