4th place isn't happening. All focus on Europa League now?

We're a predictable bunch. With our ongoing league woes the numpties will be keen the produce a good performance and likely will....so....after not messing up the 1st leg I think we'll win this match and progress.

Wouldn't bank on us beating Lecce at home after though.

4th is b/w Juve and Como I have no doubt. I think the stripes will get it done.

Our season is the EL now. If we progress we'll almost certainly play Villa. If we managed to beat them we have the winning of it.

These are big 'ifs' though of course.

It is what it is at this point. Same patterns for the past 5 years. Once again they dont have the depth to manage 2 comps the whole way and so they run out of steam at the business end of the year. The fix was what I suggested back then. Bottle Europe until they can compete. Or coming up to the end of the year and CL was out of place. Bottle the league if you can miss out on Europe all together. Some called that a loser approach but its was the one step back to take 2 forward approach really. Como like Bologna when they qualifed have the strength to play 1 game a week and be ready. Roma were so close this year but when they needed a player for now, they spent 25 million on Vaz. I could do a better job than these so called professionals making the financial decisions. It was a shocking transfer to spend that much on potential in this moment. Incompotent morons yet again who clealry doesnt the true essence of this group and what was needed.

Way to miss the point ffs. They had games before this all season which year after year runs this group into the ground at this time of the year, every year. Rinse and repeat. Group is not deep enough, players not capable with age or too fragile to maintain the quality such as Dybala to play high intensity and compete at the top end in both league and Europe for a season through.

Yeah you're right. That game against Victoria Plzen really wiped us.

But when we tank the EL (or Europe all together) and qualify for the CL and play Real midweek instead we'll be grand.

You see the point now yes?

Theres this idea that playing teams at the likes of Plzen’s level and other top sides from smaller leagues are some walk in the park when the reality is they are also highly professional and you have to turn up with the right attitude and intensity in order to win. Is it misplaced arrogance or just cluelessness from fans to come out with such statements? Yes this does tire out a group of Romas capacity hence the continued injuries and lose of form at this time of year. Dropped points against sides at the start of the year we would be very confident in beating, it comes with being leggy. Its even more costly than just having average players making clear mistakes. Maybe we’ll do it again next year and you might finally figure it out.

CL means the money needed so the team isn’t always so restricted financially, meaning they can finally bring in some more depth with quality for the first time in a decade to give them a real chance to stop this come close but fail cycle. I cant believe I need to spell this out to you all becasue you'd rather hang onto a point you are clealry wrong on.

Yes because we won’t have more money to fill out the roster if we made CL…

Skorupski is injured and will miss the game. Villa are a mess right now. We have a shot in EL.

I seen that, something happened the hamstring and they have no subs left so they had to strap him up and hope he was covered for the 7 mins of injury time lol

Thats right, I generally have a very good breakdown of whats going on at this club. It is what it is ;)
I'll keep it moving with your posts from now on. You can ignore the valid points above showing your poor take up. Season after season theres a same pattern with different managers and you still deny reality. Roma are a bigger name but the squad is stuck in limbo between 2 worlds. Too big to be outside Europe but not big enough to get where it needs.

At least 5 years now of this same cycle. After one, maybe 2 years my take could be questionable to jump to but at least 5 years of this..No fing chance but Big Bad Wolf says its all bollocks so thats final yeah.

If and its already looking like its done that Roma have cooked their season, something drastic needs to be done to break the pattern. This is not Atalanta, build organically and financially stable over years of good management. This is a club in financial mess with a half baked squad for the managers needs and when they start to get a big of money together they go out and blow it on a raw youngster like Vaz. If doesnt matter if he comes good in 2 years time and it looks a bargain, it was never the right move now to push this team on.

This argument/discussion is circular where we can go around forever kicking each other in the arse. We're essentially on a very similar page but coming to a different conclusion.

If you want to distill it down to bare bones....you think one step back (no europe/tank europe) will lead to two forward. I say we're close again but not quiet there....so it's one step forward only required no need to go back first.

This happens on the market. It's the market where we've failed and has held us back....not a few extra games. Too many duds, squandered millions.

“I say we're close again but not quiet there” Clearly I have stated that hence being in limbo. The idea I have suggested for seasons now is a way to break this nearly there but not quite cycle. This cycle that you seem to be implying is not a real thing so we cant be on the same page here at all.

For a month in time this season we had a chance here to push on around the transfer window. I said this at the time on the transfer page. Its now or never, go all in and get the right type of players to make a final push. But make no mistake, it was this group and Gasperini over performing to get in the position to begin with. It wasn’t because we are the real deal but we had a lucky window in time that should have been capitalised on with 1 or 2 more experienced players that would have helped Gasperini instantly in this last month. Malen wasnt enough.

What you see now is Roma slink back to where they should be and this is the crux of the argument. Im offering a solution because the team is not deep enough. You are stating we should just stay the same and see how it goes as thats football. How many seasons do you need to see this?

Its going to take a league miracle now and in Europe, well it could only come from everything falling Romas way and when does that happen. So we will end up no further back or forward again. Just stuck.

And again I think you vastly under estimate the extra games it takes out on this group considering Romas real lack of depth across the squad. Not only are the smaller sides in Europa league still good sides, they are also playing to get noticed. When these guys face a bigger side, its their cup final. They want to show they can compete, get their move and we have seen when Roma have not approached the games with intensity they have been shocked only to then have to work a lot harder to get back into games.

You also have to consider the amount of days traveling that takes out of actual training this group. Travel day before; no training, day after the match; no training other than light run down to stretch out in the evening. The following day, no heavy training again because the league match is the following day. Half the week this team cant get Gasperinis full weekly sessions. One year of that week in week out just on the league would see a new team out there. Como's fate next year will be the saem as Bologna's and the harsh reality check of trying to juggle European games. The drop off should be as expected and thats somebodies opportunity.

Typical for Mancini in an international game. Not the first time this happens in the EL or with the NT. Gets on the ground at the slightest contact and expects that the refs are giving the same weak calls as in Serie A.
