So what is the official status of El Pibe? I am sorry to see him go... especially without any fanfare!
This has been covered in other threads so I'll be brief. The info I got from the Rapids' PR staff was that Pibe is still contracted to MLS, just not on the Rapids' roster anymore. He can be picked up by any MLS team right now but nobody is biting. Because he is still getting paid and is still available to play and has not decided to retire, there has been no formal announcement from MLS about his situation. If he retires or gets picked up, then I'm sure MLS will release something. Right now he is in limbo with regards to his MLS future. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't count on it but he might get picked up late in the season as an injury replacement or as an addition to a playoff team. More likely, he will not play this season and then join his Columbian team for a farewell season there.
