I'm afraid those sold-out home matches are going to be a thing of the past very soon.

They had an 18-match winless run in Europa. Nice of us to help them out.

Jeez what a shit show.. II started to rant about a lot of players but then thought they all had bad matches.

When every player on the team has 2 consecutive shit games maybe the primary problem isn't with individual players.

On the brightly ironic side, sees impossiible to bury Shomurodov deeply enough on the bench to not lead the team in goals/assists per minutes played.

Roma is an altruistic club and that is one of its charms that set it apart. Between the missing children campaign and last night - helping revive Bulgarian football a bit, since Bulgaria's own football union aren't doing shit about it.

Been on this forum long enough to know fans overreact. The team needs corrected in midfield and this will lay heavily on Pellegrini finding his role but its so early yet to be making claims like you're doing. Jose is not stupid, he will find a fix here which imo is simply Pellegrini accepting he is not a forward now. He must become the heart of cm for the good of the group.

I really hope you're right, because this midfield that we're seeing currently is certainly a cause for concern.

It was a cause for concern last year. I was saying that the whole year. This summer it was meant to be fixed. When a player of Dybala became available they obviously took a change of course and went with what some of us always said would be for the best anyway, to move Pellegrini back and take advantage of his best qualities. Sharp accurate passing. He can break the lines. Injuries have not helped as he has been shifted around at the start of the season.

He is 100% the key to this seasons success. This should be clear to everyone who has watched this seasons start. Its up to him to grow a set and take charge as captain. The likes of Dybala and Zaniolo cannot do it every game if the team doesnt control the match from midfield. The team was never amazing and its not not suddenly shit now. People need to relax. The link has to be formed between midfield and the forward line. This is simply a balance issue and when its not fixed it doesnt matter the players you have, you will not be dominate professional teams and look good doing so without it in the league or Europe. We can joke about potato farmers but these teams are at a level and here on merit.

Roma used to have two brains with Pek and Totti on the pitch. Pek was just as important starting play from defense to getting it into attack. Totti took over from here. Pellegrini has to do a similar role and allow Dybala the space to breathe in attack. Too many cooks in one position and none further back = this broken down shit. This season should have always been about building on from the solid foundation put in place of last year and thus, better football. Jose must fix this and there can be no excuses.

Completely agree that one of the biggest issues right now is that Pellegrini flourished last year in the roaming, linking the attack role that's exactly what Dybala is doing as well now. It's two players occupying a similar role while the midfield engine room is too vacant. As you say "too many cooks in the kitchen" and no one in the butcher shop.

I do think people are over reacting a bit to Pellegrini's bad matches for that exact reason. In fact, there has been a lot of nice interplay between Pelle and Dybala that just hasn't been converted into goals. Abraham, Zaniolo, Bellotti together have at least 8 to 10 missed clear chances on would-be Pellegini assists.

I also agree that this is Jose's job to fix since the issue is primarily a tactical one with Dybala and Pelle cut off from the 2 deeper defensive mids and 3 CBs.

People tend to go overboard with "the game has changed" type statements but one clear, simple way it has changed the past decade is the trend of smaller teams no longer completely retreating when they lose the ball but instead employing some type of quick, high press to slow down opposing counters and win balls to nick a goal scoring chance.

Playing through this pressure has been our #1 Achilles heal since last year and it has not been resolved. It's why teams that we completely dwarf in talent often create just as many great scoring chances as we do and why we consistently fail to "put away" these lesser teams unless we get an early goal on a long ball breakaway and no longer have to worry about anything other than setting up defensively and waiting until they over commit.

Again, there are injuries but much of the fans' frustration is that the constant excuse last year was the bench yet now we have Belotti, Matic, Celik (in addition to the best talent since Totti in Dybala not being injured) filling in and the problems seem exactly the same. If there's one issue with Pellegrini is that he may be letting his similar frustration show too much.

Also, we hoped Matic would help in midfield and while he looks neat on the ball in tight spaces he's not really moved the needle at all in terms of a defensive presence that allows the other mid more freedom etc. He's been just as porous as Cristante and not really much different in "serviceable but not consistently high level" passing out of deep lying positions.

I also agree that it's early in the season and there's plenty of time for change. However, I'm also not going to blame fans for being frustrated and ranting on a message board when we had a such a big transfusion of talent over the summer and still see the same problems.
