Sabastian el loco Abreu might be avaliable because of Cruz Azul's poor form!!! The club amazingly decided to dump the 20 players on it's roster because the team has lost or drawn all it's game this season... Of course it is a bluff by the organization but there are some players willing to walk out because a situation between the organization and players over a contract dispute!!!!
No way Since you posted this on the MLS forum. i assume you are thinking about the MLS signing him...We just cannot afford to pay the same wages the MFL does while we still are in the red as a league
MLS can't afford El Loco's 70k wage per month. Miguel Zepeda & Melvin Brown are quality Mexican internationals (Oxymoron, maybe?) and might be in "Cobi Jones cap slot" range.
840K per year? MLS would have to do an under the table deal on that one....I can't see it happening. Strange that Cruz Azul would cut him loose, he's the only one who shows up every game to play......
MLS can get this guy! All they have to do is pay money THEY HAVE!!! This league can't possibilly tell me they can't pay Abreu 70,000 per month but can pay Lothar 1 million for 10 games!!!!!
El Mono, Unless you have something to report and you're not just posting speculation, please post on the MLS General Discussion board. I'm moving this thread over there. Private Message me if you have any questions. Thanks
Sebastian is that you? Afraid you won't have a job? This isn't the most orthodox way of going out and getting one, but the internet is the wave of the future.
You have to spend money to make money. If MLS starts to spend on bringing some of these players into the league, they will put more people in the stands. It's as simple as that. Will some of you people stop buying into the MLS poverty line.
Haha. So you don't understand MLS, their history with big name players, the domestic soccer market, and economics. Did I miss anything. What do you know?
First and foremost I don't have a clue how contracts and salary cap (i guess they use it) work in MLS, after say that I ask, how much a player can make in MLS?
And your point is what???? To clap everytime MLS dose something wrong! To defend a league that is ONLY HURTING ITSELF!!!! You made your point... The people running MLS are idiots!!!! But I knew that after 1997!
Sebastian "Loco" Abreu is a Deportivo de la Coruna player, he has been in Mexico on loan for quite some time now. The asking price last i heard was around 5M for his transfer but Depor has been making quite the profit loaning him out to: Tecos, San Lorenzo, Nacional and fianlly Cruz Azul. There is still the possibility that the renegade Cruz Azul players could be loaned out to the MLS. El Conejo Perez and Melvin Brown are renegotiang so the best bets are Pinheiro, Zepeda, Almaguer and Galdames.. I believe this was rumored in Radio Unica.
I am not as expert on MFL as VS, but from what I've seen any of these players would be a quality addition to MLS, assuming they wanted to be here and didn't view it as a joke. But, I can't imagine the economics working out right. There have to be other teams in Mexico or South America (or Europe) that would pay more even for a loan agreement than MLS can afford.
If any of the ex Cruz Azul players do decide to sign contracts with the MLS, it wont be for this season. The thing is, if they dont return to Cruz Azul, they cant play ANYWHERE until the current MFL season ends. That also means that they cant sign because prior to joining a club, your status has to be cleared. THe Mexican players will stay in Mexico. You can bet on that. It is one of the best paid leagues in the world and the only way they will go for less if they go to Spain. Baldi(Uru) Galdames(Chi),and Abreu(Uru) belong to foreign clubs so their future depends on what the other club says. All have expressed that they want to stay in Mexico Pinhiero (Bra) wants to stay in Mexico. He has played in mexico for quite some time and wants to acquire Mexican citizenship. He said he has offers from some Brazilian clubs but prefers to play in Mexico.
Re: Re: El Loco Abreu Might Be Available!!!!! Try 125K per month at least. In a report back in 1999, it said that national team players make at least 100-150K per month. I wouldnt be surprised if those figures increased. I heard an interview about some execs wanting t put a salary cap. Blanco makes close to 2 million per season. Its the endorsements where they become multi millionaires.. just like everywhere else.
If I'm not mistaken I read the word "recision" which means the contract has no further effect, that's equal to say there's no contract so players without a link to an organization (club) are able to sign for whoever they want to if no agreement is reached FIFA determines who's right.
FIFA wants the FMF to make the ruling. It just so happens that the President of the First Division is none other than Victor Garces...one of the head honchos of Cruz Azul. According to FMF bylaws, *If a player is not registered to the General Secreatry of the FMF the day before the season starts, that player cant sign to any team until the season is over, PERIOD. If a club did not register a player for the current season he cant play. A club can register a player and have him in the second division and is legal. Thats one way to go about it. These players were registered by Cruz Azul to the FMF general Secretary and cant play for any other team for the CLausura Tournament and therefore cant sign with any other teams until the season ends. The fact that they are no longer with the club is irrelevant because they were already signed. Mexican Labor Law officials are having a frenzy with this. Some are sayin that it is legal and some are saying it is illegal what Cruz Azul did. To be honest, everything that I have read seems to indicate that its illegal what Cruz Azul is doing. It reasons are not justified. In order for recision to be effective and legal, the cuases have to be just.... But losing?? there are teams that have never won a championship? Should they do the same? If it were to go to court, it wouldnt hold water and the players would have to be paid in full and compensated... and in the meantime... during the legalities, the would still belong to Cruz Azul until the courts decide.... because if the courts were to rule that they could do that and would have to pay the players contracts...well....Cruz Azul would want some of its transfer fees...if in fact some of the player has already split... that is why in the FMF bylaws... when a player present all his legal documentaion, they have to present a card that indicates they are in the clear...
point taken, I think the statutory regulations apply only to "x" Federation, so if the FMF has that players registered they are not allowed to go to another club in Mexico so abroad is another issue, they have just to ask for their pass and they're set.
In MLS, as I'm sure you know, all players sign with the leage as opposed to a specific team. So, technically, the players are aloted to a specific team. But the specific team is the one that negotiates the contract. That is because each team has an aloted amount of salary that each team must fall below (I'm not sure of the penalties if a team is above the salary cap). But, since the league handles the contracts, they have decided to have a top out wage for one player (I believe something close to $250K) so salaries don't get out of control (such as with NASL in the 70's and early 80's.
There's still kindness in this far corner of the internet! Thank you very much biosoccer, I'm pretty sure you're physically as beautiful as you're as a kind person, by the way say hi to your boyfriend on my behalf!
