not sure about that. Like @GunneRy said, Ramsey had shown flashes of being the player he became at a younger age than Ox and strung together a real consistent stretch of play. Then he got maimed. Ox was never at that level of play, especially not consistently. We dont have a choice but to wait him out, but I am really skeptical he will be the player his talent shows. He may need to be loaned out.
I think there's a difference between giving the ball away and being bad positionally - it looks like Ox is good positionally (or rather, I don't remember Ox failing to track runs). Players stop giving the ball away in bad positions (see Ramsey, Aaron). Re: crossing, I wish players would stop doing it. It's a low probability tactic, and should be treated like shots from distance, i.e. only used as a change of pace. Fair enough. But players that one footed are absurdly good with that foot. Campbell is not that. Also, I've seen Ozil and Wilshere use their right foot at times (and score with it too). Don't think I've ever seen Campbell use his right.
It's possible that you guys are right, and Ox ends up being someone like a Shaqiri or a Deulefeu, someone who's good in flashes and good enough to be the best player on a mid-table side, but not good enough to feature for a top team. If he doesn't improve this season, though, it'll be time to cut bait.
rumor floating that mustafi did not travel with Valencia to Finland for pre season friendly. no idea if this is true or not. edit: potentially being rested following euros. that would make sense
At the end of the day, it is almost like arguing on semantics. Theo, JC and Ox are average to mediocre players and it does not make any sense to keep all three on our roster. Granted that I believe Ox may be the best out of this (sad bunch), nevertheless 2 out of these 3 should be sold to make ways for a real talented and creative player (Mahrez/Fekir/Drax etc). Our RW is a black hole and we need much more from this position than the meager return we have gotten last season from this trio. That is actually my biggest beef with Wenger, keeping a bunch of average dudes around and hoping/ believing they will become top players.
In theory it sound great but... 1. Ozil has openly stated that he is not a fan of playing out wide 2. Ozil has less than ideal speed for the wing
I sort of hate it when he plays Ramsey or Ozil wide tbh. Not a fan of that at all. I could kinda see it working with Santi, but I think you'd need the fullback to push forward a lot to provide width in that case.
Santi on the wing looks like someone who should retire. We moved him on from that position for a reason. I'd rather put Ramsey at WR than Ozil, but preferably, neither.
...with either the Mariners or my old Dodgers winning the World Series, Arsenal leading the EPL table at that time by a country mile, and, with my beloved Los Angeles Kings tearing shit up on the ice to start our 50th NHL season, and I am damn proud to have been a Kings fan since 1975, and for me this will be my 42nd season, and for those of you fellow Gooners who haven't seen it, here is a link to my 10-part miniseries of my fandom of the Kings, a (somewhat) show-and-tell type series, entitled "Loyalty To Royalty", enjoy!!! ....and GO KINGS GO!!! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0mCbz5fX3-VUgBwYVeqmfsKAuaoog48S
Ozil plays out wide for us now. He is out there all the time for us. When has Ozil ever said he does not like playing wide? And you guys keep thinking its a set position. He can still cut in field. I just want to lessen his defensive burden. Honestly, you can play Jack or Ramsey out wide or Ozil. It dont matter. Arsenal dont play with much width from the attacking players And Santi out wide is poverty.
Have we ever seen jack get a run out wide? I honestly can't recall We seem to cut inside or "build" on the wing more than we race to the byline lately unless it's an overlap from nacho ballerinas so his skillset (pending fitness and new signings that make thinking about it inconsequential) might work despite a lack of pace
Exactly, we need to ship out two out of three. Would rather keep JC than OX as the latter is cheaper and last year showed good effort while Ox looked so low on confidence when he was put on but then again why keep JC when Wenger doesn't trust him. An upgrade would be heaven so we wouldn't have to rely on any 3. My concern at CF is our effort or lack of to get a serious one this late on, so we can brace ourselves fr more Walcott time. Sometimes I wish he was an outlaw like Pennant or Bendtner who were flushed out of the team for their legal/drinking/lazy behavior.
Yes. Ox will be 23 when the the season starts. By that time Ramsey had his break out season. While I don't particularly rate him in this squad, in the right position he can be quite good. At 23 Ox has never had a great season. We are paying him, Jack and theo collectively over 250k/wk almost for what? Who was the last British player to come good after the age of 22? Seriously, I don't know, but if say the chances of him becoming a world beater are pretty low. We have immediate concerns and I'd sacrifice him in a heartbeat to get a proven Rw in.
I was more alluding to a certain team that's currently destroying the Mariners winning the WS. But such things can't be talked about.
Apparently Mahrez is set to stay at Leceister. Riyad Mahrez is set to snub Arsenal & sign a new £100,000-a-week contract at Leicester City. (Source: Daily Express)
Indeed ******** this window ... So frustrating .. all of our failed targets are aired like dirty underpants
That's what I'm seeing as well. I'm also seeing that we are focusing on a striker when Aulas says we aren't getting him. Really tired of the back and forth and I really now don't think we are getting anyone.
