I don't think Ox gets into good positions. Decision making is one of the worst parts of his game.

It's understandable if a 22 year old doesn't have the best decisionmaking. But his decisionmaking is highlighed because he gets into positions where his decisionmaking matters. That's what getting into good positions means.

Robben and fiber shit on our wing players especially that year

Ozil is better than muller as a playmaker but muller played between lines

The drop off on quality is massive

I'm not going to bank on Ox at all. You can say he is only 22 as much as you want, but if you've been playing for 7 years professionally and in the last 5 years your development is stagnating, I can't trust you to pop up and become a star - at least not in the context of Arsenal FC, maybe another club.

The thing with Ox is that you can sometimes see little flashes of the player he might become if it all clicks for him, and the upside is exciting. I thought he had more bright moments in today's match than Campbell.

I don't want him starting for us next season, but I want to keep him at the club still. I almost think we should just bite the bullet and send him out on loan for a full year so he can get regular starts in the league. There has to be a team like Bournemouth, Sunderland, or Watford towards the bottom of the table that would be happy to give him 90' every week.

Ox has worse positional sense and decision making than Iwobi. That's worrisome.

    Comparison with Bayern is absurd

    Robben is an All Timer

Then they have a defence of Boateng, Hummels, Alaba, Lahm, Neuer

In midfield Arsenal can compete with them.

But then up top Arsenal have nothing of the quality, Mueller, Robben, Lewa

    LMAO!

Which is why players like him shouldn't ruin their development sitting on the bench at Arsenal

    I would contest this. Vidal/Kimmich/Thiago/Alonso/Sanches is better than Xhaka/Ramsey/Cazorla/Wilshire/Elneny/Coq unless it's 2 v 3.

Anyway, the original argument was that Bayern won the treble with Mandzukic up top with quality service behind. A trio of Ozil/Mahrez/Alexis should be able to get Giroud to score a lot more and win trophies. In 12/13 Mandzukic had a scoring rate of .75, which is surprisingly high for his level.

IMO the best Arsenal 3 - Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil are in the ballpark of Bayern's best 3

Vidal is very good. As is Martinez (if he is actually fit)
Alonso an All Timer but he is way old now.
    Kimmich/Sanches are decent young prospects
Thiago promising but not done much

Agree to some extent re Mandzukic

First up he was a decent player, but of course Arsenal don't have a guy at Robben level.

In any event, of one can get goals all across the forward line, then it can work.

Giroud was not that bad. Indeed a big part of the problem was Alexis having a really bad run

    Let's be real

    Player for player

Bayern are probably better than us 10/11 of the time

    They are an elite squad

I'm standing by my "Ox is terrible" sentiment. His few minutes of clever flicks and runs don't make up for the other 95% of the time. Think Julio Baptista at Arsenal.

If I'm wrong, you guys can feel free to come back and quote me all you want.

So according to news today it looks like Lacazette and Mahrez isn't looking too hopeful. Hopefully this is just a game of poker as Arsene says but it doesn't look good.

    My odds: Lacazette : 5% and Mahrez : 25%.

Beyond that though, as I always said, Mahrez would offer a much better ROI than Lacazette, assuming they both would cost around 45 M (actually, Lacazette would cost much more).
Giroud is taking a lot of heat but I can not envision Arsenal going through an other season with the likes of Ox, Theo and Joel starting on the right wing. They are just mediocre. It is head scratching that at least two of this trio are not sold.

When you look at it I really don't think we would be getting a winger unless two of our wingers leave. We have Iwobi/Ox/Theo/Campbell. That's too much wingers, even if they aren't good to be wasted (not my view, Wenger's I'm sure). I could see us signing a mediocre CF and calling it a day or not signing any more players at all.

I think that's more Iwobi being really good. Dude looks like a star in the making.

I see your point...a sampling bias and your probably right. How much time can you afford to give the lad though? Arsenal first team is not a development squad. He probably should been loaned out a couple of seasons.

Not a bad plan, but I'm confused as to your opinions in comparison to Ox. Ox has 100 first team appearances--JC 23. JC is only 15 months older than Ox and he's on less than half the wages. He has good vision, skills, strength and durability. So I'm confused why we should let JC go but give Ox more time? Not saying he's great, but JC stepped up and contributed last season when he was needed. I'd trade him in a second for mahrez, but I'd trade Ox as well.

Because Campbell disappears from games, is one footed, has an inconsistent first touch, and really isn't all that fast. Great left foot, but that's really all he's got.

Ox's decisionmaking is perplexing, but he's never invisible (suggesting that his off the ball movement is good), he has a good first touch, and is pretty fast. If he puts it together, he has a much higher ceiling than Campbell does. And Ox hasn't been bad - his issue is that he hasn't played enough, mostly because of injuries.

Edit: agree on the loan part, but Arsenal are, umm, not good at that. I think that's something we agree on.

Indeed. Part of it comes from being the biggest club in Germany, part of it comes from them not having had to pay for their stadium, and the biggest part of it is that they've absolutely nailed their player recruitment since 2007. I still can't believe we lost out on Ribery to a Bayern team that wasn't going to be in the CL. Wasn't that the summer with all the Dein drama?

Buy a proper winger and sell Theo & Campbell. We would still have Iwobi and Ox in the books.
