Everyone has to have thought about this at least once. I know we have Jurado, Gudiño and Hernández as our most promising keepers, but do you think any of them will develop to be as good as Memo (for El Tri), and come up clutch for us? Regardless of how Memo has looked at club level, he’s saved us on so many occasions. I just have a feeling we may be without a really good, trusted, and reliable keeper in a few years.
I don't see that much promise with Gudiño and Hernández. Jurado has all the tools to be on a similar level to Memo, unfortunately he made the mistake of going to Cruz Azul (there rumours that a Turkish team wanted him) and now is glued to the bench.
There’s good young gk’s, but typically gks are late bloomers compared the field players. I think Jurado is the best of those 3 and would be a good 3rd gk for wc. I haven’t kept up but how is Lajud doing?
I laughed at this, however I do still feel bad for Corona. he never was able to start in a WC, he ********ed up his real change when he got into that fight or something. I know he got an Olympic Gold, but he should have had a playing WC on his resume.
Jurado should be the goalkeeper for 2022 and even 2026 when you guys, us Canadians and the Americans host in 2026
Also Eduardo Garcia from Chivas seem like a good prospect, he had a beast U-17 World Cup with Mexico last year.
He’s pretty damn good and he’s only 17 and he’ll be 18 by next month, hopefully he doesn’t flop like Raul Gudino, he was another keeper that showed promises.
Far from it. García is still a prospect, Jurado is stuck behind Corona and Gudiño is already in bust territory.
Pretty much, Gudino needs to find a team to play at even if it’s the mls, Jurado lost half of year of not playing football and needs to be a starter this coming up season with Cruz Azul, Chivas should take a gamble and starts Garcia, because the kid has potential to start as our starting keeper for the 2026 World Cup.
At least you have a goalie for the future but then there's the rest of the squad preferably the defense and up front at striker that is goin to come into question not even in 2022 but in 2026 as well
I’m more worried about the defense tbh, because in the midfield we will still have Edson Alvarez, Carlos Rodriguez, and Sebastian Cordova. We also will have Eugenio Pizzuto and Fernando Beltran coming up the ranks. Lainez, Piojo Alvarado,Hirving Lozano will still have gas for the 2026 World Cup, for strikers we will have Jose Macias and Teun Wilke. For lb and rb I could name Alan mozo,Gerardo Arteaga,Jorge Sánchez and Cristian Calderon. I can’t nearly name anyone for cb, maybe just Cesar Montes. Salcedo and Araujo would be quite old for the 2026 World Cup.
Mexico has as good a chance in 2022 of breaking the curse of El Quinto Partido and getting to that 5th game but only if they get rid of certain players and incorporate youth into this squad
