Is anyone planning on watching El Clasico on May 3rd at a bar in DC? I think it would be cool to get a bunch of local Madridistas together to watch somewhere, like Lucky Bar or something. Any interest?
What about Los Angeles? Seems to be a lot of us here! I am new btw! Just moved here for school this season.
Yea, I know it did. However, I still think it (along with the last thread I started) is on topic since it deals with the main point of the forum, Real Madrid, and watching them on TV in an organized fashion. In my mind, totally 100% soccer related. So, should we do Lucky Bar? I think that would be the best, most central, place to watch unless someone else has another suggestion.
Yeah, I'm coming from Alexandria, so DC sounds like a good compromise. I've heard of Lucky being a good place to watch soccer so sounds good to me!
So, if I tried to find out if Lucky Bar would put a few TVs on El Clasico for us, how many people would come? I don't want to be the only one there.
I've watched El Clasico at Lucky Bar before. It's a pretty good atmosphere and they usually put it up on their big projection screen. When I was last there (maybe 2 years ago), the crowd had a lot of college kids and Latinos, most rooting for Barca. It gets pretty packed, so arrive fairly early. Another option is Summer's in Courthouse. I actually like it better to watch games. They don't have a giant projection screen, but they do have a number of good sized plasmas. It's not as cavernous and you might get a little less collective effervescence, but I prefer it as a place to watch an actual game and the crowd is slightly better (imo) with more real football fans and fewer kids who bought a scarf when they were studying abroad. I wish I was still in DC to watch it with you guys. Anyone around New Haven, CT? I'll probably be going to Anna Liffey's.
is the game on May 2 or May 3? GolTV advartise both dates, and now I'm confused on which is the exact date.
Pardon me, it is Saturday, May 2nd. Both Soccernet and the Real Madrid website indicate it as such. Real Madrid's website is showing kickoff to be at 8pm Madrid time, which is 2:00pm Eastern. (EDIT: Soccernet says the same thing, 2:00pm Eastern time kickoff). So Saturday, May 2nd, 2:00pm Eastern time. Apologies for the confusion.
No apoligie needed, golTV was the one advertising both days, anyways, thanks for the clear up! I now can plan things ahead and prepare a watch party
Well, I will be at Lucky Bar tomorrow representing Los Blancos. Hopefully some of you all in the DC area will stop by. Should be a great match, hopefully we can pick up the 3 points. HALAMADRID!
