He is not a "lock to start"

and he is always fighting off some sort of minor injury.

I would be willing to bet that after three straight miserable starts, that Jeffries has had enough of the "superstar in his own mind" striker.. and will stick his pouty ass on the wood where it belongs.

what a dissapointment that kid is.

I'm going to guess that Cerritos and Kreis get the start today.

My guess is he starts and gets taken off at 60 if he doesn't contribute.

    Huh
I am a Metros fan and not up on the Burn. All I ever hear about Johnson is his upside and potential. Has his reputation really become that bad?

Uh yeah. I have never seen a kid who wants to work less and endures more "nagging injuries". Then after all the pouting, telling everyone that he is getting screwed - he steps on the field and looks like a high schooler on a pro team..

Upside & Potential? First he has to realize that what he does have is untapped and he has to grow it. He doesn't have it, yet. Unfortunately he has been told all his life that he is a superstar, was treated like one, always was his team's best player and now that he is struggling at the pro level he is way too immature to know how to deal with it.

What makes it worse is that he refuses to listen to his peer group and treats them like they are not worthy of his attention - because he really thinks he is going to Europe after the World Championships.

I have been told that most of the team just don't want anything to do with him.

Wow that's a pity. I'm a Metros fan too and I've only seen Johnson play a couple of times. I saw him have a great game against DC United at the end of last year. From what I've seen and heard from his youth appearances (especially the tournament in Europe last September) this guy has size, skill, speed and a ton of potential. If he throws it all away because of an attiutude problem and a lack of work ethic it would be a shame not only for himself but for the future of the USMNT. I sure hope he straightens himself out.

I was hoping to see him play tonight but if his last few appearances are any indication he might not get much time on the field.

What a waste. Sorry to hear that. So many players willing to work their butts off just for a chance and this guy ?????? Well?

He is one of the hot shots on the U-20 team. Does he have the same rep there or does his success placate him?

    is GONE
well EJ really stunk it up in his limited minutes tonight. he seemed to have no concept of how to try for an equalizer; he would just randomly shoot the ball over the goal, handing metros goal kicks and further time wasting opportunities. i wasn't impressed. i just hope kreis isn't badly hurt.
