I find it utterly bizarre that Adu threads are twice as long when he doesn't play. What exactly does this mean?
For one thing, only Johan Derksen was able to watch this game live. That's probably the main thing. Anyway, the only thing that makes these threads go so long (until Freddy scores 4 in the Europa League) is the whole snark/countersnark dynamic, or delusion/reality, as some would have it.
It's a funny thing I guess, but people love to pull people down I guess and also who can't look away from a car crash. It's rather ghoulish here at times. Lets hope he gets some more minutes next game, baby steps.
Probably. [It's tough on a gameday thread when no one can see the game.] Doubtful. [It is not enough to succeed; others must fail. - Gore Vidal] So do I. [But some Adu-thread regulars do not - don't kid yourself.]
Most players were rated 5, except Ronaldo who was rated 4, Arano who was rated 6 and Koke who was rated 7. I have to say though, if there's one thing I disagree with this newspaper, it's the player's grades.
As for me, I didn't see the match, so I don't feel qualified in saying anything -- although I do love the GIFs (keep it up!).
So, "5" is basically "thanks for not embarrassing yourself" sort of a grade? Gotta walk before you can run ... or dribble. PS. BS's Johan Derksen is not the real Dutch voetbal guru Johan Derksen. Just an FYI.
Thanks for inspiring me to procrastinate studying. I have compiled post counts for all the Adu at Aris gameday threads and must report that you are wrong. When Adu plays, there are an average of 296 posts per thread, 70 posters per thread, and 4.2 posts per poster. (n=7) When Adu does not play, there are an average of 220 posts per thread, 57.6 posters per thread, and 3.8 posts per poster. (n=8) By a t-test, these two posts/thread averages are not statistically different.
Some rep for anybody who watches the game and gives an assessment on how he looked (I won't be able to do it until this weekend and I really want to know how he did). Oh and I really hope they win the Greek Cup final...partially so our Aris posters can be rewarded for putting up with all the BS nonsense and partially so our yanks can experience some success to get their bellies burning to do everything they can to be on the field...
I watched the game earlier today. Adu wasnt spectacular, he had some give aways with some bad passes, he connected though well on many but gave it away too. His defense does need work though, he's got the running at people part right, but he has trouble stabbing and taking the ball away properly, often with the guy he is running at only needing to do a cut to make adu run by him. Adu looked average, no better or no worse then any other midfielder today. They all looked stale, and for me Javito actually was the breath of fresh air. His energy, and ability to turn on defenders and beat them/earn fouls was good to see. He I think was the best midfielder out there given his little time. Nafti's level has dropped, although he had some nice passes, but just isnt the same player I remember seeing him do brilliant things with the ball before. Koke too had some bad moments, but as always he came through with a goal. Adu also seemed to have issues with getting to work on 1-2 plays with his fellow players, he'd slot the ball left and they'd run right, or he'd look for the ball to be given back on a wall pass type play but they'd instead let him do a dummy run and choose to go another route. I hope that comes in time, because its those plays that Freddy shines the best at. But all in all, they moved the ball well, and looked better in the second half like by ALOT compared to the first half. Aris looked Lathargic(sp) and lazy and with no drive to go out there and score/string good passes and plays together. Johnson too I'd say brought in some life, with his ability to hold the ball, and not lose it (shocker).
