I've very little opinion on the matter but the word is that the Kansas City Wizards have offered a contract to Eidur Gudjohnsen.

this is a rumor? The Wizards President Robb Heineman just made the announcement public.............

This is NOT a rumor, and the thread should be moved back to N&A. Check the Wizards forum for Robb's thread on the matter.

I for one would LOVE to see Gudjohnsen in the club. Talk about a proven goalscorer.

I'd really like to hear what the rest of the MLS board members think of this- if it is relegated to the stupid Rumors board no one will even see it

Here is the link to the front office's remarks on the matter (so people don't need to take the 15 seconds it would take to find this).

Oh, and he is over 30. Which means he is a washed up European player who is coming here for retirement and won't be effective. If he isn't good enough to play on one of the top teams in the world then he is just a waste and shouldn't be signed by an MLS side. We should be signing young exciting players instead of these old retirement age players or going after players that are in their prime. That should cover most of the normal responses we get in a thread like this.

I'm of the opinion this is a good potential signing. He isn't a name player to most Americans but he should be young enough to be an impact player for a few years. He also seems to be able to play as a more withdrawn forward or attacking midfielder. If he has good vision and passing ability he should be able to help set up Kamara to blow a few more shots on the goal line. :D

Would KC play him as an a striker or as a creative midfielder? He's good at either role (though I haven't seen him play in a while), and I think he'd be a good fit for MLS. Not a huge name, but neither was Angel, and he's turned out pretty well. KC deserve a good DP to go along with their new stadium. Better than Boskovic :p

Kudos to Heineman and the KCW if they pull this off. Eidur is a damn good player and one that I think has be underrated. The man's a winner. He's been a success and a very good teammate from what you read. He can be used in a variety of ways and would certainly be an upgrade to most if not all MLS clubs. I like this move for all parties. It's a win-win. I just hope it happens.

I think people over rate the DP's ability to put fans in the seats. There are only a handful of player who are able to do this. MLS teams cant even get a sniff from them because they are still playing top level soccer. Guys like Eidur or Angle to me help win games which helps bring people to the stadium. I hope this happens

I love Eidur's game and he was still playing at a high level coming off the bench for Tottenham this year. I think signing a creative attacking mid is a great idea for KC and I could see Eidur playing a similar role to Schelloto in Columbus being the fulcrum of their attack. My main question would be that without a training camp to get familiar with the other players how long will it take him to settle into the team? If nothing else it should give them a marquee player to help open their new stadium next year.

I heard one or more of those closed down or got ruined by some flooding, but I could be wrong.

We have several casinos in Kansas City. They really arent on riverboats they just have to be located on the river.

We have a Harrah's, an Argosy, an Ameristar, and Isle of Capri. There are also a couple casinos located in Kansas City, KS but they are much smaller compared to those.

We only had one close which was Sam's Town. It wasnt due to flooding, it just couldnt keep up with the others. Funny thing is that the place is now used as office space for Cerner.

Plus, when you get that KCW jersey with 'Gudjohnsen' on the back, you know you've gotten your money's worth on the "add name" option. :)

Yes, there is a new casino going in near the new stadium. I completely forgot about that by now. I forgot which casino it is though. I know originally they were talking about building a Sports Book but it is something else I had never heard of.

This article is from 2003, so is this still relevant? We have another former gambler in "Casino" Jimmy Nielsen already on our team and he is doing just fine. He overcame his problems and is now just White Puma to KC fans. I seriously doubt our ownership group would let him slide into old habits like this if we are going to pay him DP money.
Yes, it will. And if he has a food or alcohol addiction, there are tons of bars & restaurants around the stadium too. Oh, and shopping addicts might also have a problem with the area.....

Seriously, this would be huge for our team if we could sign a guy with his history of scoring goals. Imagine him on the field with Ryan Smith......oh my, that could be fun to watch.

You're still not funny. But good news, you'll get the last word in because I'm about to get on a 15 hour flight and I know you never give anyone the last word. I'm still waiting for you and Superdave to get into it.
