Don't know why and April 1st is over, so I think it's reality. Just came over the news ticker some minutes ago without naming reasons. Might be that Röber did not want to have Effenberg in his team - since Röber is in Wolfsburg, Effe was always injured and the coach always said that Effe has to fight to find his place in the team. Until winter Effe was in surprisingly good shape with excellent one on one stats, but the longer the season went, the worse were his performances.

    The reasons are out now:

Effenberg felt treated badly by Röber. Right at the start of his job, Röber announced that there will be no special treatment for Effenberga and that he has to be a team player. This included a weight control, which showed 90 kg for Effenberg - two kg too much for Röber, something Effenberg does not believe as he won the Champions League with the current weight. Effenberg: "I thought I am in the wrong movie. What's going on here? I'm 34 and know what I have to do to bring top performances."

They're probably better off without him anyway, no point in accomdating a player like him when he's 34 years old.

But for Wolfsburg Effenberg was more important in matters of PR off the pitch than his performances on the pitch. Now Wolfsburg is back to the absolute grey mouse image, something they wanted to get rid off with him.

Effenberg btw explained that he definitely won't play in Germany anymore. Maybe he signs somewhere else, but also possible that he finishes his career.

Such a storm over 2 Kg = 4.4 lbs? That's ridiculous. There's more to the story than 4 lbs. Effenberg is old and much slower than his glory days, but he still can play. Röber is a fool.
