Well, in a week dogged by headlines on racism, I think its nice to see a postive aspect of race relations in soccer.

Eduardo da Silva, the Brazilian born player, played his first competitve game for Croatia against the Irish on Tuesday.

I've watched him for some while come up through the ranks at the Dinamo Zagreb and Inter. About a year ago he became a naturalized Croatian and became the first black player to represent Croatia.

A great boundary has been crossed I think, despite my inital misgivings about non Croats playing. But take into consideration, the amount of ethnic Hungarian, Slovenian, Serbian, Bosnian players in the team.

In a country dogged by racism and hatred stemming from the civil war, it really is a postive tale.

What is your view on this? Is this right or wrong?

Many croatians have taken a very stern view on his inclusion. Should he be allowed to play for the NT or is this just following suit of the other NT's around the world.

Hmm. That's the first I heard about that.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I noticed there is a Croatian guy on the Chilean national team too. I can't remember his name though...
