Eduard Atuesta makes the move from #LAFC to back-to-back Libertadores winners Palmeiras! 👀What do you think about this move, parceros? https://t.co/KvJQ9nZlYn— Parceros United (@ParcerosUnited) December 13, 2021 My 2020 interview with Eduard Atuesta showcased how cerebral he is and his focus technique. Atuesta became a more complete midfielder in MLS under Bob Bradley. He's ready to play for the best club in South America."It changed my style of play.”https://t.co/NHxQjtLJuz— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) December 13, 2021 Eduard Atuesta was not a DP. A player #LAFC was able to discover in Colombia and develop here, and now are selling him to the biggest Club in South America.. Eduard gets his own thread with the move to Palmeiras. I like the move in that he will be playing Libertadores and most importantly he isn't a guaranteed starter and will need to earn his spot. If he cements his role there, I like that he'd offer us a quality alternative at 8 to play more like a thoughtful regista to Uribe's box to box depending on what the game needs. Feel like he does what Cantillo does well with a bit more discipline (though I've only seen him to lesser comp than what Cantillo faces weekly). Here is hoping to success for Eduard!
If true, this is an interesting detail: 🚨│Atuesta, antes de fechar, buscou informações sobre a maneira de jogar do Palmeiras.
“I had this idea that was instilled in me from playing in Colombia,” Atuesta said. “After I pass to the left back, I run over to him and ask for the ball right back. If I switch fields to the right back, then I’d run over to him and ask for the ball back. And if I play it to a winger, then I position myself close to him. That’s fine up to a certain point. You can pull the strings in a match, but ultimately it slows down the game. “That’s how El Pibe played, but football has changed a lot. In Colombia, technical midfielders still want to play that way. We want to be on the ball at all times, but you’re practically chasing the ball all over the field. It’s not very efficient. When I got here, and thanks to the staff, thanks to Bob, I started to understand why that wasn’t efficient for LAFC’s style of play.” From Atuesta's interview with The Atletic's Colombian journalist Felipe Cardenas. Fascinating - He strikes at the heart of the issues we've faced transitioning from defense to attack on the NT.
MAKE Bob Bradley our NT coach !!! I love Bob Bradley think he got screwed with the US wanting foreign Euro coaches.
he won enough to easily go to world cups and the gold cup a bunch of times. I like the way his team played. But that was like 10 years ago. Remember the roster he has. think Dempsey, his son and Donavon were the only good us players + the goalie
He made one World Cup and needed a miracle gol in the last minute just to make it out of a cake group. His team’s also got rag dolled by Mexico in those gold cup finals.
Mexico has had a better roster until the last 4 years... US only had size and didn't know how to use it. I remember when Milito ran around the big US cb. in a Inter vs Milan game in NY 10 years ago. Think that dudes career never recovered haha
Why can't we bit of both. There are teams/matches where possession will benefit us. El Pibe would constantly exploit this type of space and play to the team's attributes. Currently, our #10, or lack of, doesn't have that skill set. But I don't believe we should be playing US soccer style. We need to play our game with a lot more intensity and purpose. Love love that Atuesta has made this move. He may be the game changer we need.
Has played in the first two matches of the Paulista for Palmeiras - started their first and then came on as a late sub midweek. Next up to the club WC.
Came on as a sub in final minutes of Palmeiras semi final win at cWC. Let's see if he plays in the final.
On as a sub in the final vs. Chelsea. Getting solid minutes as they are in overtime. They are in park the bus mode at this point so not a lot of opps to show out.
All things considered they held out better than expected so losing 2-1 against the champions of Europe is respectable.

Some more positive sentiment from fans after his last couple of games. I think he is exactly the kind of midfielder we need to adopt a 4-3-3, more an 8 than a 10, but will play the early ball to Diaz or Sini or Valoyes, while providing work rate in midfield.
