Did Beas get injured or was he just playing really badly?

That's why he needs to get the ******** out of the SPL. This is at least the 4th time he's been off after a ridiculous tackle in Scotland. I know Beasley can take his fair share of hits but there have been a few on him that have scared me.

Edu scored today against St. Mirren, i believe it's his first goal in SPL.
BTW, Andy Dorman (former NE Rev) scored for St. Mirren.

He'll be at Schalke 04 after this season. Hopefully this injury doesn't keep him out too long.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. Schalke fired Rutten. He was an assistant manager under Hiddink at PSV while Beasley was there. That was the link to Schalke. I hope I'm wrong. I would love to see him at Schalke but I think Rutten's firing probably dried that interest up.

Get a grip! It's a mans game. How would he have handled playing in the 90's or 80's if you think that's bad!

From an interview with Rangers' manager Walter Smith after the St. Mirren match:

"Maurice has got to get used to Scottish football and the way the game is.
"I thought he was excellent against St Mirren, especially in the first half."

We played very well in the first half and Edu was playing really well. Smith then changed his tactics for the second half and sat back. Big mistake and let the Saints back into it.

    Yeah, get with it!

Robust challenges to the ribcage are what make Scottish football great!

Crap. I guess that's what happens when you stop paying attention to a league: stuff changes.

It wouldn't have been if Fred Rutten was still there.

The SPL is a better league than MLS. That is all.

    Re: Edu to Glasgow Rangers

I'm not going to open open a can of worms but from my perspective, there's no doubt Rangers and Celtic are better than any club in MLS but it's very debatable if any other SPL club is better than the rest of MLS. But in reality they are two different leagues with two vastly different styles so it's really hard to compare them accurately.

    Re: Edu to Glasgow Rangers

I'd say Celtic and Rangers are obviously better, the next four are marginally better, then the last six would be mediocre to poor MLS sides. Hearts might even deserve a stand-alone designation as number three, because they've kind of solidified that position this year after a rocky season or two.

Celtic tied Hearts this morning 1-1, so Rangers can close the gap to 1 point today if they get a win against Motherwell.

You might be right. Hard to tell really. But Hearts, Hibs, and Aberdeen might be marginally better probably due to more depth.

I think both suffer from a complete inadequacy in the coaching department, and this makes it difficult to guage what the real quality is. For example, Laszlo has taken a faltering Hearts team and, on form, would be challenging for the title if that form is extrapolated.

I think that comparing leagues is rife with problems. MLS plays in the summer heat on wildly different playing surfaces. We also have kind of a bizarre, hybrid system of player development that is continiously evolving and leads to great differences in the experiences on any roster.

MLS is built for different purposes than the leagues in Scotland and England and works with different resources. Unless the comparison is really, really obvious, I don't think that trying to rank disparate leagues is a constructive practice.

That said, go Edu! Let's hope that he is getting the hang of Scottish Football enough to establish a place in the starting eleven.

Too bad the high-quality SPL has never been able to produce players capable of getting Scotland out of the group stage at the World Cup.

I read this while thread again word for for and I don't see anywhere that we have taken the SPL to task. Where have we knocked the SPL? The only thing that is remotely along those lines are the comments mentioning the tackle on Beasley this week and that the SPL is a rough and tumble league which Beasley might not be suited for. No one has bashed the SPL. If you think we have you are being ultra sensitive. We have gotten way off topic so we need to get back to discussing Edu/Beasley at Rangers.

More importantly, pauljf, is that every one of your posts is laced with a rather inappropriate attitude. Most of us dont come here to argue with people so I, and I would assume many others, would appreciate it if you could stop picking fights.

I completely respect your opinion, if you think the SPL is superior to the MLS and would like to voice that opinion than by all means go ahead. That is, afterall, what forums are for. I would simply appreciate it if you could voice your opinion in a civil manner.
