Just saw that Buddle has some interest from Fulham dispite not playing much in the WC. I know this was posted in the other MLS thread but I thought it deserves its own thread since Fulham probably wont be the only club interested in his services. Buddle has proven he can get the ball in the back of the net so hopefully it works out for him and he gets a pay raise abroad. Here is the story:

i'm sure more will come in the coming weeks

Even though he is getting up there in age soccer wise I say go for it! He deserves it. I wish and hoped he would have played more in the World Cup. It sounds like he has sparked some interest. I hope something works out.

I'm afraid he'll go the route of EJ. He had a good few weeks for the Galaxy, but look at his form in previous years: He was an average player. I think he'll get slaughtered with the high-aced game that Fulham plays.

i think that's what Bob Bradley thinks as well. Unfortunately, we already have bad player given bad impression to Fulham.

I really hope these lower paid guys get a salary boost due to the World Cup. EPL might not be ideal for him but a CCL club might want to look at Buddle. Work Permit?

Edson's brace against Australia really proved his worth, he's a pure goalscorer unlike EJ or Findley who rely on great pace to score goals. He has a real nose for the net, good if not very good positioning and awareness. I think he could go over to Europe and hold his own, and not completely bomb like EJ did at Fulham.

i am an mls and usmnt guy. i say no because he most likely wont be with the usmnt in 2014 and mls needs to keep their better players.

Sounds like you suck. Buddle would have gotten some goals in the WC. He had the hot streak going and a nose for goal that was poorly lacking. He can shoot as well. When's the last time you saw Jozy take a shot without trying to run over or through someone first? He surely would have not gotten in that blast Buddle did against Australia for just one example.
I'm worried Bob may have cooled him off now that he's returning to LA. Just ask Lalas, he was pining for him to get in there all tournament. The in-form debate is valid.
As for Buddle, he's 29, if a move comes up he has to take it for himself. Would love to see him in MLS but with 2014 so far away, he doesn't need to prove himself to Bob by blasting MLS. Time to get paid.

Raise your hand if watched Buddle underperform for years before this season?

Look, I'm a bit of a hater, admittedly, but I think Buddle's hot streak is a bit of a fluke. The past 6-7 years have been more representative. I think he'd get slaughtered by EPL defenses. I don't think it's a good move for him or for Fulham. I don't think he's terrible, but I also don't think he's quick enough, creative enough, or tough enough for the EPL.

In the Donovan threads, I've been supporting LD's move to the EPL. But I think Buddle is better equipped for the MLS. If he becomes a star, then great, he can help our league grow. He's just not the guy I want to see representing US soccer.

wow, its funny how some people see a few friendly performances and think that all of a sudden a guy can score frequently and at a high level. People have good games. Jozy who you seem to think is incapable of scoring had a hattrick in a game that actually mattered against TNT. Does that mean he can score? No, it just means he got hot and we shouldnt expect it day in and day out. Fulham will surely rue a move for buddle if they do make one. He just doesnt have what it takes

Word. There's been (reasonable) complaints about our defense, but it's at the striker position where we really lack talent.

We need a Chicharito, a Higuain, a Pedro, or a Mueller. Unfortunately, there's notta one on the horizon.

First off ... it is from the News of the World ... not the most reliable source.

    B. If he goes on the cheap, what is the risk for Fulham? If he blows chunks, loan him out to Orient or something.

I'm a big Buddle fan and think some of you here are discounting his ability.

At the same time, even I think playing at Fulham would be punching above his weight.

Belgium, Holland, Scandanavia or the Colasship or 2Bundisliga would be better fits and put him in a position to succeed.

This paper has the eighth highest circulation in the whole wide world. Right? Plenty of facts. "Pregnant man gives birth." That's a fact.

He's underperformed his way right into the top 10 in goals scored in MLS history. I think he's ranked 8th.

Hilarious. Your couple of posts should rank right up there with some of the dumbest criticism I've ever seen on these boards... Congrats.

Btw Jozy's hatrick against TnT was garbage... why? Because it's TnT and they have a worse defense than North Korea. Jozy hasn't scored at the "real" international level either... as a matter of fact Buddle's brace against Australia... who btw is an actual World Cup squad is light years better than anything Jozy has done in qualifying.

That Spain goal was just bad goaltending... yes it was a huge goal because it was against Spain... but let's not overreact about it... it was a shot straight at the GK.

Buddle's excellence in the air almost guarantee's he'll do well in the EPL with the amount of crosses that are launched in a given game there.

You and pavlovscat are just haters and haters are gonna hate.. which I completely understand... but you really don't have much fact or points to present other than the fact you think he sucks.

One of the all-time leading scorers in the MLS and is now 100% healthy and in the best shape of his career... he's just had a World Cup experience... I doubt he'll feel any extra pressure to perform at a mid-table EPL side.

Don't get me wrong... he's not going to light the EPL on fire but I suspect with a good amount of playing time between 5-10 goals wouldn't be unreasonable.

As someone mentioned earlier this is his one chance at a big paycheck and exposure in a huge league... go do your thang Edso.
