Probably his best game for Ajax. Guys on tudn were mentioning that he was close to signing with Tottenham. I remember the Dutch press reporting they wanted to sign him last season when he was benched. It'll be interesting to see what type of interest he garners now that he's starting and putting in these type of performances.
Edson is good, this isn’t surprising to me. I knew it was only the personal shit that was holding him back. his price tag will only go up from now, really happy for him.
Also participated in 2 of the goals.

I just finished watching the replay as I had stuff to do this afternoon. Easily his best game in an Ajax shirt. I graded him at a 7.5. He was dominating on defense which is no surprise but his passing was right on target and not just the back passes. He had some nice entry passes and it's too bad that his header in the 2nd half was saved.
Reyes was one of the best defenders in Spain that one year. Alvarez could very well be a bust in Spain or a bigger league. Let’s hope not though
True, but Reyes has never performed well with Mexico. He has those mental lapses and makes mistakes. Edson on the other hand always has performed well for the most part. That right there is already a difference. As well as sticking at Ajax and working for a starting spot. Something that Reyes ran away from, which is why he was getting loaned out from Porto.
Alvarez went the full 90 minutes again today at DM dropping to RCB when Tagliafico was subbed off and Martinez slid over to LB. It was another good performance with some more fine passing into the offensive zone. I think this is one area that he has really improved. He no longer is looking only for the safe back pass but is picking out attackers with some good field sense. Ajax won away 0-2 and were hardly troubled on defense. A lot of the Dutch supporters on an Ajax site I am on are now coming around!!!!

There is a long history of this. Ajax and Feyenoord do not allow away supporters at matches any longer because of violence years ago before each match. You dare not wear a shirt or cap from the opposing team when you go to visit either city.
This guy was charged with killing 4 people in a sex club, but got away with self defense. The strange thing his that he was feared (probably because of that) by the hard core fans known as the F-side. But one day when these were giving the Ajax team the shout out to an away match (iirc to Feyenoord), he shoved/pushed the leader of the F-side, a Molucan descent man, and this guy was fed up with his behaviour and turned around and struck him unconscious. Since that day he never returned to the Ajax stadium. His liquidation was because of his criminal activities, not Ajax related.
