Looks like Edmonton is exploring the indoor soccer game again. Two people seem to be involved. One of the ideas was having a it run as a part if an already existing pro team in Edmonton.

They are also looking to sell winter tours to fans to Las Vegas, San Diego and Ontario (Disneyland) to fund the away trips and raise some funds. Anyone who has lived through an Edmonton winter may appreciate a trip to somewhere warm.

This project is two years out at a minimum. Also Edmonton is an oil town with plenty of oil money (hence the names of sports teams in the city Oil Kings, Oilers and Drillers).

If the price of oil keeps deflating it may have an impact on this team. That's just a supposition in my part though

Geesh. Feel bad for any player not from Edmonton who signs there. As a former Calgary native there are 2 things in life I am sure about... 1. Edmonton sucks and 2. Edmonton is boring as hell outside of the mall. The mall is nice though, biggest mall in North America, or was, bigger than Mall of America. End Edmonton hate rant lol

Do you have any links to more info? Edmonton Drillers of 96-00 pulled in 5K plus fans, don't think a new team would draw close to that and not sure what the team of the same name drew in the Canadian MISL 07 -10, maybe they could make a good MASL entry but travel would be expensive.

Funny thing is a few NASL players have actually sought out Edmonton to join their team in the last few years moving from places like Atlanta and Minnesota to go there. They do apparently pay a bit more than some of the NASL teams do so that may be part of the reason. For certain people they can adapt to the city but its not for everyone.

No links. It was a conference call about what to do with the vacant Oklahoma City hockey market for next year. Another AHL team, ECHL or Junior.

One of the guys had knowledge of it.
