Yep, and already some people idiot Canadian fans are mentioning realignment to form a Canadian division in the A-League which is garbage.

No point in moving the existing teams out of their division and removing regional rivalries, not to mention all the other problems such as the pacific divison only having 2 Amertican teams if that happened.

Think about it just for 1 minute edmonton is in now ottawa is next and will be in 2004 or 2005 winnipeg is going for 2006 and hamilton is trying to get in so one division you would have.

    1)Ottawa
    2)Toronto
    3)Hamilton
    4)Montreal

Now does the league put syracuse, rochester, boston
in the norteast or do you form a 3rd division in the east.

What do you do in the pacific division? They are left with two teams?

If the plan is to have the Canadian teams still play a regional schedule against the teams they do now, as I have heard, but lumped in one Canadian divison, that is unfair as to who makes the playoffs.

Whose to say the eastern Canadian teams won't have the easier schedule playing an easy team 4-5 times a year when the western Canadian teams won't play the same team or vice versa?

I've heard that regional rivalries will still exist under this plan but part of the regional rivalry is the fact that you are battling teams for playoffs spots. Vancouver will still be playing Seattle and Portland but the games won't mean as much as we won't be battling them for a playoff spot. Same with Montreals and Toronto's battles with Rochester. They won't mean as much if they aren't battling them in the standings. It sure sucks that the Canadian teams will be playing teams OUT of their division more often than teams in their division.

It is something that the A-League and the idiot from the CSA who seems to think this is a good idea have not thought about.

I agree. Just add Edmonton to the Pacific Division. Then we can have FIVE former NASL cities in.

do you guys think a canadian league will ever happen? wasn't a lack of teams the main reason the last try for one never worked out?

The lack of anybody in this country willing to invest in soccer is the reason that a league never worked out.
