Its kinda of strange. During the 1998 World Cup I always thought of Davids as Holland's attacking mid. Has he ever played that role before? With Nedved out of the ECC final, is there a chance he might take over Nedved's role. Just curious.

I always thought Seedorf and Davids were peers in the mid-field, both tracking back and defending, rather than the classic diamond formation with an attacking mid and a defending mid. Those two, at least in 1998, we very complete players.

Too bad about Nedved. I was really disappointed to hear he got carded. Now the CL final will be a much more even match!

It's almost the same exact situation as Ballack not being able to play in the WC Final. Nedved has been the best player in the world(like Ballack was last year) the last 9 months and it's a shame he won't be able to help his world player of the year candidacy by playing in the CL Final. He has my vote(if I had one). I didn't see his yellow card foul, was it a good call? You would have thought Nedved would have been more cautious knowing one more Yellow will rule him out of the final.

The Nedved foul was a tired clumsy foul... Really there was not to much in it at all. A silly foul but not by any standards a malicous one.

Man U had to do without their midfield general in 1999, and they came through.

Nedved might be more important to Juve than Keano was to United, though.

What do you think Juventus's strategy will be without Nedved in the lineup?

Also remember in 1999, not only were United without Keane, but Scholes was suspended too.

I thought Davids played very well. He broke up many attacks by Real and was always a threat pushing forward. He made some very nice dribbles and turns as well. He is really going to have to play like a champion in the final to fill the void of Nedved.

He is licking his chops for this game, remember ,Milan sold him to Juve, and I've read he was rellay pissed about that, so he will have his revenge. For the Oranje, Davids sometimes lines up on the left, but i see Lippi leaving him in the middle or out to the side to battle Seedorf, I would like to see this match up as they are best friends and play eachother very hard. When Real and Juve played the Final a couple of years back, these two had great battles, i was surprised none of them were ejected, I think if you take out Seedorf, apply lots of Pittbull on him, they shut down Milan's service for goals, and we get the Double.

That was about 5 years ago. We've played Milan about 15 times since then. I'm sure he's over it. I do agree with you that Davids vs Seedorf will be critical though.

Whats better is watching Davids school Gattuso. Last year they met up think its was coppa italia final, maybe two years ago but i remember it being at the end of the campaign, and Davids just took him to the cleaners. If someone remembers correct me if im wrong. Was a rainy match dreadful conditions, I think Jose Mari scored from a beautiful Pirlo pass but Juve won anyone with a better memory than me?

If I was Lippi, I would put Del Piero in the attacking midfield position, with Trezegol and Di Vaio as forwards. I'm really not sure how Camoranesi would fair against Milan, so Alex would be a safer bet.

    Sarcasm?

I really am not sure, but based on the form Nedved has had lately, it is hard for me to think that Keano could have had as great an impact as Nedved would provide.
