Broken knee-cap in last weekend's MetroStars - Columbus match. Cory Gibbs will replace Pope on the Confed Cup roster...

oh my God. There are some BSers who will be very pleased with this call up. As for Pope, that is terrible news.

    Ow!!

That sucks. Do these things usually heal without complications? I've seen some ugly dislocated kneecaps - how common are broken kneecaps? It sounds like something from a Mafia drive-by.

I blame it all on Eddie Pope bobblehead night in DCU's last home game in September. I've always thought the things were stupid but I picked one up at the game. First Eddie gets traded to the Mutts, now this...

I was pretty psyched and looking forward to seeing us field what I thought was a pretty strong team for the Confed Cup. Hope he has a complete recovery.

I don't know who is happy about this. I would have loved to see our top two central d tandem get tested early by a Brazil or a Turkey.

The upside of this injury is that Bocanegra now gets thrown to the wolves. I think he will perform extremely well and anchor our central D. His partner will probably be Berhalter in the center, so they should make a good pairing.

It will be interesting to see how the defense gets filled out.

First off, this is really sad to see. And just when I was thinking a new team would clear up his injury woes. Too bad, too bad. Seeing Cory get some time with the nats is a small consolation. I'd rather see Eddie playing right now, though.

Very bad news for Eddie but I see it as something that could help the Nats. Confed Cup is glorified friendlies. Let's see if Boca can run the defense. Gold Cup is more important but we still need to see how these guys can play under pressure.

I didn't mean to imply anyone would be pleased with his injury, only the player called in to replace him.
