nice analysis... it is good to see that Steelers Nation sweeps far and wide! myron cope, we will miss your voice on sundays go stillers.
Yeah with Jack Fleming passing away and Myron Cope stepping down, the glory days in the Steeler booth are officially gone. The current PBP guy isn't too bad, though. Ilkin - no real opinion on him either way yet.
"One win? That's all Chivas has is one win? One goddamn win?" "You can't say that on radio!" "Nobody's listening anyway!"
Never thought I'd see it. United and my Stillerz rolled up in a well written piece. Ed, if you'd have mentioned Forbes Field, Roberto Clemente, and Original Hot Dog some of ex-patriated 'Burgers would be jumping off roofs. Gateway HS class(less) of '66 (attended with Myron Cope's niece and nephew)
PBP is Bill Hillgrove. He is very good at his job. Always tells you the down, distance, formations, motion, penatlies, intricacies and so on... He also does play by play for Pitt football and basketball. Tunch is painful... huge pessimist.. Does DC United have a good radio team? One of the more popular things to do in Pittsburgh during Steeler games is to mute the TV and listen to the radio.. ...mine ears have heard the glory, an american soccer announcer with emotion... mangle.
IfyoulikearadioannouncerwhotalksreallyfastandneverseparatesanyofhiswordsandgoesonandonlikeaspeedfreakoncrackthenTonyLimarziisyourman! Otherwise, he doesn't do much for me. Others' mileage may vary. Hillgrove is good - similar voice to Fleming's, which is a good thing. I didn't know he did Pitt, as well. You will find there are a good number of Steeler fans around the United boards.
