Hertha Berlin signed Andrej Voronin on a year long loan from Liverpool at the close of the transfer window so I think that Caicedo was the back-up plan assuming they couldn't push through the Liverpool deal. Unfortunately, I have to blame Caicedo's agent. It has been clear to me that Caicedo is not in Mark Hughes' current plans for Man City. To my knowledge, Caicedo only had about 2 matches of about 65 minutes each in the pre-season. Man City seems to be in win now mode. The last 2 games, Mark Hughes has opted to go with 1 striker (Jo) and then a more experienced attacking mid as the second striker (Elano or Shaun Wright-Phillips), despite having both Ched Evans and Daniel Sturridge. Now both players are young and might not be able to carry a full 90 minutes, but they have shown some flashes of ability. So right now Caicedo is striker 5, soon to be 6 when Benjani comes back or 8 if everyone was healthy. Suposedly, Man City also want to sign Ronaldo in January when he is healthy. Hopefully, Caicedo will get some reserve team time at least.
