Its only fair given how many spots Europe has already.

Italy wants to complain about South America having too many spots when they play against teams ranked in the 100s when CONMEBOL doesnt have anyone ranked past 76.

Seems Inter will sign Ordoñez in the winter market.

I despise Inter but it'll be a good place to grow as a CB.

come on bro,did you forget how many starts Estrada had and the output was abismal he even missed the goal in front of nets, something similar to Campanas goal he would have probably moon it,lol, you also forgot how in most of his appearances most of the squad refused to play with him.I personally witnessed this in a friendly which maybe the other starting game where he was constantly ignored by the other players, not one single pass even when he was in a favorable position, poor guy was hand gesturing for the ball and getting no where.Ecuador doesn’t have those kind of strikers you’re talking about that can resolve in 10 min, heck most teams don’t,look at Vinicius, that kids stats his first few years were awful and even he’s not the type that would make a difference in 10 min.Im not saying Campana is the best but there were definitely a bias against him when Estrada was a starter.I think Beca could use him knowing his limitations and playing with his strengths, positioning, linking up with Plata(what he did in sub 20)etc.I think compiling all his minutes in all his games would probably give you a figure of 3or 4 full games .

This squad has entered into a phase of its development where the talent level is so high that balance is key. If we want to make the next big leap, we need guys who will step up consistently.

In the past 8 years, our goals allowed tally has dipped to freakishly low numbers. Talent has been placed on elite (or highly competitive) teams, and it is clearly paying off. We've gone from 1.6 goals allowed per game to .29.

On offense, we're working with basically an empty cupboard (besides Enner)- especially when you start considering that guys like Estrada (vacated from NT play), Jordy Caicedo (vacated from NT play), La Rola (inconsistent with club and nonexistant for country), and Campana have all had a hand in contributing (or not) toward our team's outcome.

Look at 2022 - who was Ecuador's top goal scorer? ESTRADA. He's tied 6 with Alexis Sanchez and Richarlison, and only bested by Lautaro, Messi, Neymar, "El Vampiro" Suarez, and Moreno.

    Estrada - 6
    Enner - 4
    Plata - 3
    Moises - 2
    Pervis - 2
    Mena - 2
    Torres - 2
    Arboleda - 1
    Arreaga - 1
    Beder Caicedo - 1
    Jordy Caicedo - 1
    Gruezo - 1
    Hincapie - 1

Biased or not, I have to side more with Cris on this one. It's just a matter of NT quality. He has the physical gifts to excel, but he doesn't have some of those intangibles. In short, he's not a killer or ruthless enough to bet on regularly.

I remember a Stephen A. Smith rant long ago about Kwame Brown, and to me it sums up Campana's output.

He has a big frame to handle tough defenders, but he can't outmuscle anyone.

He can run quick enough to play at the pro level, but he's not explosive enough to beat a defender off the line.

He's in the box, but it doesn't mean he instinctively finds the best place to position himself.

He can head the ball, but his accuracy isn't precise enough to be a real threat.

He can show evidence of scoring, but his finishing is generally lackluster.

He can score for his club, but at the NT level, he still can't beat out the guy who is 10+ years older than he is for the starting spot. If sparring and training are a basis for call ups, Campana is not demonstrating better qualities when it counts meaning something is missing in his toolkit.

With Campana, we're now at the point of confirmation bias- every time he underperforms, it further validates why he rode the bench or why someone else should start ahead of him. When he's had the chances, he couldn't hack it. Even Felipe Caicedo (different because of his experience) could go into a Lazio game as a super sub and would score with a 10-20 minute window of game time.

If it was me, I'd drop La Rola and Campana all together and try them again for 2030 once the slate is clean in WCQ. I'd rather disappoint with new guys who can learn a new system than keep getting frustrated that the same guys cannot return a positive result after being in the "system" for so long.

Arevalo is flying high in Spain's second league and we didn't capitalize on that. We have 2-3 strikers in Ecuador that can possibly get favorable looks.

Fair, but I have an Inter Miami jersey with Campana when he still had the 9. I want him to do well. I support him. I have watched him play a lot with goats and without goats, and many of those were me sitting at the stadium watching him off the ball too.

Dude...I like the guy but he sucks, man. He is not NT material. He's New England Revolution bench material. When we got players all over Europe winning CL, Club World Cups and Europa League's...he's not in that category. He will unfortunately take a spot up that could go to someone that actually could make an impact as a super sub.

Caicedo put in a solid shift with Chelsea yesterday. I dont think Rodriguez played much with Saint G

Pacho, Piero, and Ordoñez will have some good games today, I hope they all play/perform and come out injury free.

Arsenal v Chelsea this weekend would be electric if both Ecuadorians start. When was the last time a clash like this wouldve happened? Valencia v Felipao in United/City?

17 y/o. First time I'm hearing about him, but he looks like a great prospect for the future. Being in France is already a major boost for his career development. It's a great league to nurture young talent.

So I paid $30 for 2 tickets in the tribuna occidental at the Casa Blanca- 7th row- for last night’s matchup vs IDV.

Some random guy approached my dad and I and asked if we wanted to go on the field to watch the game. It seemed sketch at first until he showed his Ecuabet lanyard. But we took the leap of faith. Turns out it was super legit.

For the full match, we had seats behind on the pitch behind the IDV goalie directly on the field and saw that come from behind win inches from the action.

What a way to experience the game, and seeing both Liga goals + the 1 annulled goal from Estrada was a core memory. The place was a madhouse. Truly a memorable experience.

one conclusion from this match- Estrada pide selección.

    saludos from Quito, gents.

I caught the red card and had to leave a few minutes later.

Moises def laid an egg. For all of his defensive virtues, he has a knack for sometimes getting a bit overzealous on defensive duty and he's prone to to the occasional yellow....and thus, sometimes a red card. Hopefully it serves as a lesson. He already has that red card hanging over his head which will make him miss the first game of the WC.

2 minutes later, Piero gets a yellow for a high elbow. Admittedly, not the best matchday for our London lads.

That Arsenal v Chelsea game was awesome. It wasnt just the Ecuadorian starters element, it was the number 1 v number 2 of the league going head to head in a heated affair (that wasnt Man City, liverpool and/or a VAR goal to decide it all in the 90+). Before that Caicedo red, there were like 5 yellow cards or something.

It sucked to watch Caicedo go out so early but it was great to see Hincapie feeling himself on that Neto tackle.

the ending of this game was so awesome. Disallowed goal and everything

Speaking of Caicedo missing out on the first game, let’s talk about an unintended consequence of this. Could this red card come back to haunt us at the draw. FIFA released their draw procedures and how seeded teams will be positioned in the group and basically heres how it plays out for Ecuador in every group.

    Group A, D, G, J
1st Match vs POT 4 Team

    Group B, E, H, K
1st Match vs POT 3 Team

    Group C, F, I, L
    1st Match vs POT 1 Team (Non-Host)

At the end of the day if you want to bring it home you have to beat any team in front of you, but having a managable schedule with a good group goes a long way.

An ideal scenerio for us is to get drawn into Group B playing with Qatar, New Zealand then Canada. Topping the group will have us playing one of the best 3rd ranked teams from a group. Additionally ESP, ARG, FRA, ENG will be placed so that if they top their groups none of them will meet until the final so hopefully we are on the side with the team that struggles the most out of them.Would like to avoid a Euro team from Pot 1 and 4 in our group.

Completely forgot about him glad to see him come up on media feeds again. His brother Michael went on loan to Hartlepool and returned to the U21 team in Bournemouth.

Reminded me to look up Aimar Govea too. Swansea loaned him to Girnona B.

Did anyone see the report of Virgilio Olaya to Bayern Munich?

I forgot about Govea. He made it to the first team two years ago towards the end of the season. Played a decent amount of minutes. He was plagued by injuries last season. Hopefully he can ball out. He was being linked to Juventus at some point.

Just watch Manchester United or Liverpool sign an Ecuadorian kid. Clubs can be jealous. They want to be the ones in the spotlight. IDV has Darwin Guagua, Juan Riquelme Angulo, Nixon Ayovi, Johan Martinez, Zair Arroyo. Liga has Fricio Caicedo and Ederson Castillo. These kids will be sold at some point.

Hopefully his loan is to a competitive team and he can shine enough to get recalled to Bayern. Good luck to him! It's nice to see Euro scouts focusing on mining gems out of other clubs that aren't named IDV.

It's a big validation to the league as a whole.
