Our prayers have been answered brothers.

No Arreaga and in his place we got Realpe.

Good to see Arevalo called up too.

Vieron la cagada de Pervis ayer?

his own coach called him out saying he expected more from his experience.

The first goal was a foul on him not called but the 2nd one he should have marked better before the cross.

This injury seems to have lowered his reaction time and if it keeps up we might have to play Hincapie as LB.

In a few stretches of his career, he's had these hiccups. Both at the club and NT level.

He's getting older so he needs to focus more on positioning.

But again if he drops at least we have Hincapie, and hopefully Realpe maintains form so we can throw him in CB if needed.

Ecuador couldn’t score a measly goal even though Canada played with a man down since the 6th minute. Unbelievable.

I wonder what goes on Beccacece's head when he decides to play conservatively against 10 men.

He really needs to go. Thank you for getting us to the world cup and best of luck elsewhere.

I’m not feeling optimistic about the NT’s chances at the WC.

How can we with this coach playing players out of their natural position and only telling them to backpass.

Castillo as RB? Paez as a winger (knowing he's slow)? He really thinks he's a genius.

I honestly think he reads/listens to the criticism about his tactics and doubles down on them out of sheer stubbornness.

The response is universally damning. The dude has to be on the hot seat. I don't even know how to the FEF can stand by and keep saying "trust the process". It's been 1 year of continued underperformance (attacking), which has gone beyond excuses of one-off matches (which anyone can have). We are on a legit streak of purely woeful attacking output.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me given how petty he is. This is the same guy who made a 16 year old debut against Chile when we needed points.

The worse part is there is creativity in this team. I saw Yeboah and Plata create several plays between themselves but they needed a player to pull defenders so they could attack an open lane.

The few times there was an open lane we threw in good crosses. That's something we would build on with a proper coach.

In more positive moves, Deinner Ordoñez completed his move to Chelsea.

Can Independiente make a forward now PLS.

    2-3 forwards would be ideal.

Another CB at a top flight european club, gotta love it!

What we watched yesterday was just horrific. Canada looked more dangerous with 10 men than we ever did.

If we remove Enner from the equation, have we won any games since Becca took over?

We can't be too greedy right now lol I'll take one to add onto Arevalo

Alkaseltzer made Moi look like an average player...and that's hard to do. Says it all really.

It’s not a small sample size anymore. What’s worse is that there’s no improvement. The NT doesn’t create that many goal scoring opportunities. In the past the team would create goal scoring opportunities but they just wouldn’t capitalize. That’s not the case anymore.

Revisiting this post...check the 2026 output. We can now revise the stats a bit just on qualifiers:

    18 matches played:
14 goals scored and 5 conceded:
.778 goals per game / .278 goals conceded

The defense is elite and the offense is amateurish.

If we take out Enner's goal contributions (6 goals), our goal output per game is .444 (almost half).

It doesn't take a Ph.D. statistician to crunch the numbers and show that Beccacece's ceiling/capacity has been clearly hit and the team is not improving.

The other thing is our players are capable of creating plays on their own but there's never anyone to make a run since we sit so deep.

I think the game is gonna be another snooze fest. The interesting part is what happens after, win or tie Beccacece will stay. We really need a New Zealand win for this nightmare to be over.

There are consequences for fumbling games like this. Aside from missing out on POT 2, we lost that aura of being a team you don’t wanna be grouped with. At this point if you are a team who can score 2 goals even 1 consistently you will get a favourable result against us.

Prior to qualifying we had 1 issue which was our goal scoring, but now I see several. We do not have a decent RB and LB. We do not have an ideal partner for Caicedo. There has been no consistency in line-up or tactics. The NT has been more about marketing players than it has been about selecting the cream of the crop.

This might be an unpopular opinion but 4-4-2 is probably the best formation for us. I get that we strayed away from this because we went through an era of abysmal results/performances but the goals were there; it was that the players weren’t. What good is have that extra player in the midfield if there is one less putting it in the back of the net. Ecuador cannot operate with 1 striker it needs 2. Correct me if I’m wrong here but when we pulled away from this formation our goals went with it.

We've had scoring troubles for 2 full WCQ cycles- there were some outlier games such as the 6-1 vs Colombia and the 4-2 vs Uruguay.

I don't think it's fully a formation/tactics issue. That's certainly part of it, but I think it's also a coaching and player output one, too. Alfaro didn't fare THAT much better if you take out the 10 goals scored in 2 games vs Uru and Col. If you take those 2 games out of the 2022 WCQ tally, we plummet from 27 goals to 17. That's basically 1 goal per game. That's still 2x better than this term, but definitely not confidence inspiring.

Plata has not been anywhere near as dynamic or as reliable, and the same goes for anyone not named Enner Valencia. At his age, and for his contribution, he has done MORE than enough...nobody else is carrying their weight in terms of goals scored or assists.

We've had 5 years (pushing 6) with these players, and while our defense has improved immensely, it's the same guys delivering the same end product. Tough decisions need to be made.
