He scares me. He’s definitely not 100% fit but still puts in a shift and I think they wont ever let him rest because of it. This cannot be good long term.

but there are doctors that are way smarter than me that say it probably doesn’t matter. So what do I know?

Yea it’ll be tough but no such thing as too much depth.

I think Juanse should get a look but it seems like Beccacece already has the list of players he’ll call up.

Independiente have been on a tear this year. Hopefully they win the sudamericana.

I swear if BKCC calls up Arreaga after this last game he played, I'm gonna have to say that's his secret lover.

It’s a joke that Arreaga keeps getting called up.

They are indeed secret lovers. There is no other explanation.

At first I thought he was calling him up because he wanted to keep the Barcelona fans and press happy.

Has to be because he's so bad and taking up a space that could go to a better CB.

As a Barcelona fan, f the press and fans. They're delusional and always talk bad about other teams when we don't have the international glory to back it up.

It is def BS, but Becca knew the risk of keeping him on in the second half with that yellow. He is our best player and I think they reserved him for the Arg game for that reason - but this is the price we paid for those 3 pts that has us transitionally in Pot 2 months before the WC draw.

It's unfortunate that he's knocked, because it would've been great to really send full strength for W's vs US and Mex.

lol the man is given like 3 screens for 3 teams every week en and it shows in his call ups

After watching this USA game …. We are not exactly who we think we are - what does that mean?

    1. we are not as fast as South America would have you believe, which is probably why Luis díaz danced us in Quito
    2. We have been spoiled with great midfield play because of Caicedo and when we get caught out of position we are immediately flat footed and our CBs are not as quick to save us as it usually seems
    3. galindez is more important and not as interchangeable with Valle as we thought (maybe that was just me)
    4. Pervis is a shell of himself. Genuinely think he doesn’t make it to the WC As a starter.he hasn’t been the same since the game vs uruguay in quito. It’s sad because he was 100% our best player at that moment in time

we missed maybe 1-2 clear chances, but the USA had at least 3 that couldve been put away on a different date.

Enner be pulling off ridiculous moves and it works lmao

I'd take this game with a grain of salt since we were missing several starters but for sure Alcivar needs to be replaced by Mercado

#1 - Agreed. But to be fair, the virtue might be running down a defender or staying close enough to possibly disrupt play, but running with the ball with a high degree of control in attack- not our forte.

#2 - There really is no replacement for Caicedo and it clearly shows in how porous today was vs. the US. This is a good trial/error game for what is now a Caicedo-less squad for matchday 1 of the World Cup. It is a clear indicator of where we are lacking, and I think a very traditional 4-4-2 is probably the best formation to keep orderly lines and a 2-man CDM front to help alleviate defensive strain.

#3 - Galindez is Benjamin Button. He's turning back the clock. If it wasn't for him, we'd be toast. But hats off to Valle who at the very least can inspire some sense of confidence in the net. He did it with the seleccion and is doing it regularly with Liga. Herein lies the dilemma- Galindez is 38 and Valle is 29. I think if he maintains form, Valle becomes the undisputed #1 after Galindez bows out (I can only assume it'll be after the WC) for the next WCQ cycle. What comes after Valle is anyone's guess, and I SINCERELY hope it isn't Ramirez (alias El Blooper).

#4 - Pervis needs time. He went through a similar rut when he transitioned clubs from Villarreal to Brighton and yet again after that long injury with Brighton. With the experience he brings, he is a lock in that position and time will tell if and when he assimilates at Milan. Once that happens, we'll see him come back. It's a tough transition from the PL to Italy for anyone not a forward.

Someone should also talk to Nilson. That kid had more fouls than touches (I think).

I'm surprised that despite his size/frame, Campana cannot manage to put any power on the header, and his other shot on target was somewhat weak for a dude as imposing as he is. The math ain't mathing IMO.

Yet again I find myself worried about Rodriguez. Why is there such a stark contrast between club and country? It's perplexing. The two good looks he had to make a pass, he chose a full frontal 1v1 or 1v2 and straight up wasted what could have been an interesting pass/play on goal for a teammate.

Let's just imagine if Arreaga was playing this match. We probably would've lost 4-1.

I’m officially on the fire this coach bandwagon. I never like to immediately blame the coach because we also need to recognize we’re not world beaters.

but looking back at the game he just lines up the team so poorly. Why the hell would he line up Preciado as an attacker, the whole right side of the field with two out of position defenders is just …. Dumb. He thinks he’s draskovic? Come on now

Mexico looks like shit tonight vs Colombia, but I guarantee you they make Ecuador suffer and or even pull off a win.

In the past 3 games, we've beaten Mexico once and tied twice.

In the past 7 games, we've beaten Mexico twice, tied twice, and lost thrice.

I hope the stats are with us this time. How many of these games were on Mexican soil?

Let’s balance the W-L !! No experiments this time. Play Denil and proper wingers

Is Beccacece not aware he’s Ecuadorian? I’m not saying he’s the NTs savior but come on he deserves a look at least.

I've given up on Campana. Call Arevalo to replace him.

As for Rodriguez, Alka-Seltzer always puts him on as we take off our wingers forcing him to create space for himself. Idk why because we have wingers to sub on.

We also saw how important Hincapie is to our transition game. Besides Caicedo, Hincapie is usually the one throwing long passes or moving the ball up to open up space.

Only positive energy for the match vs Mexico. With the right changes it'll be a good match.

Precisely - the dude is a bonafide scrub of a coach.

Anyone with this much talent would be expected to at least put up the same numbers. Considering how weak he is at calling up talent, his job has been basically set to flying around different leagues to watch guys who he already knows play at a good level. That's low effort coaching. He is the living embodiment of a complacent man. Scraping by with just enough to keep the worst of the heat off him.

South Korea se fue. With good if not great wins against Brazil and Paraguay this round I don’t think we can pass them (even with a win in Mexico)

gotta root for USA win. And I was seeing if Italy or Germany dont qualify directly that also extends the pot 2 spots? By one or two places?

I kind of enjoy how high stakes these “friendlies” will end up being these two months

There’s really no transition from this team without Hincapie or Moi. 1-1 is the best I really see this ending for Ecuador.

    Vite blew it by conceding.

Preciado gave up a few balls that immediately turned into risky situations and shots.

    Kendry is now replacing.

This team is wholly reliant on Moises- no doubt. And Hincapie is also sorely missed.

This team is …. Erratic at best. I really can’t see Mexico not scoring another 2 goals at this pace.

    they’re playing like a debutants

    Except galindez.

this is shocking. Where are the champions league center backs we have there

The midfield is so porous and I think it’s interrupting the flow of how the defense can breathe.
