I think we can play a mixed team and still pull results. Play a few games with out Moi, Pacho and Hincapie in starting XI test some guys from our bench in those positions. There a good amount of players I want to see play. Let's hope we see them in those games.
Moving forward we should keep Alan Franco as RB. His motor and technique makes a big difference. Not to mention he isn't one to get rattled by dirty fouls, if anything he turns it up when it happens. We now need to replace him in midfield.
Agreed on Franco. I don't think we need to replace him much in midfield. Vite and Caicedo alone where doing great. I think our last line up with a few tweaks can do really well. We should test more players tho to have a solid bench and alternate players. Juan Sebastián is definitely one to try. I would like to try Michael Carcelen as well.
I'd honestly love to give a run to Denil Castillo and Mercado to see how their skill set can be used. Its better to see where they fit now than last minute having them replace someone due to injury.
Caicedo scored on an absolute rocket of a shot. Too bad they dropped points because that win was so close...
Sarmiento had a really good debut with Cremonese. Hopefully he stays injury free and can last the season.
Agreed. This is an auspicious start, and with some fortune, I think we can see him back in Beccacece's good (but highly flawed) graces. I'm still of the opinion that he should be sacked though.
Hincapie got his toe wet, with 5 minutes in the final Arsenal win over Atheltic Club. K Rod's team rocked PSV 3-1. I didnt watch it but it looks like he played full 90. Tomorrow we'll see Caicedo and Pacho. And Thurs. lets hope Ordonez is back in the starting 11.
I was tolerant of Beccacece until his recent statement saying Ecuador isn't a top team until they do this for 6-10 years. Buddy we've got back to back world cup appearances and improved our defense. Not to mention our team is still very young. Of course we're not contenders but we're also not pushovers. Having a coach be your biggest enemy really is something else.
I'm gonna have to emphatically agree with you on this one. You're right. Beccacece's comments are not ones to be said out loud and almost always inopportune. So he wants to line up against a French or Portuguese squad and tell our players, "guys, know your role, they're elite, you're not. Let's sit this one out. Wait your turn." Give me a break. I'm sure in Beccacece's mind this all makes sense, but out loud, it sounds like absolute insanity- regardless of whether the theoretical level of each "elite" team is collectively higher based on mindset, pedigree, and actual level. How can we have a winners mindset if the guy spearheading the project is constantly trying to cut down everyone's legs? I'm sure Morocco wasn't billed as a Top-4 squad before the 2022 World Cup, and yet they knocked down a few giants to earn their semifinalist slot. You don't only have to be a top-10 squad to make a deep run, but you just have to be sharper and more effective on the day during a highly compressed tournament timeline. Hell, look at Peru in a few of the past Copa Americas...they weren't even a top-4 CONMEBOL qualifying team and they still managed to make it to a final. It takes a good coach, hungry players, efficient tactics, momentum, and a bit of luck. Beccacece's mindset, in contrast to the old Bolillo Gomez days of "venimos para aprender" back in 2002 is way more dangerous and toxic, because now our guys have untold ceiling, but we're hamstrung by a bonafide loser. I sincerely hope the FEF starts to tune his ass up, because this is just ludicrous. He needs to stop doing interviews or just GTFO.
He's trying to set up an excuse in case he fails so he doesn't ruin any future jobs. But with that attitude I can see why Independiente kicked him out years ago. He's always afraid of taking the next big step. I'm sure he rubs the players the wrong way too because you can tell he's content with ties whereas the players are not.
I think his comments alone would ruin any future jobs anywhere he considers an "elite" destination. He's such a debbie downer. This might be the first time in all the years I've watched Ecuadorian football where I hope the players actually rise up into mutiny to force him out. His demeanor, opinions, and media skills are ticking time bombs. VAMOS CON LA TRINCA!
Caicedo anda raro... tackles arent as sharp and his sprints are far and away as opposed to last year. He has been scoring goals and putting in shifts (+ an assist today), but he looks a little slow out there. Add to that the fact that we sat him 1 game, I'm thinking he has a nagging injury and Chelsea will just refuse to sit him. The result? The game he just played vs Bayern. Yikes Pacho looked solid vs Atalanta and his team put them away fairly easily. Onto Ordonez Vamos IDV y Liga!
He needs some rest. The CWC did a number on everyone. There was a limited pre season window and by the time the league kicked off, he was in betweening starting XI for Chelsea and then went to the WCQs, then returned as a starter in the last matches, and traveled to play today. I think he'll bounce back after a decent rest. Perhaps with more reason, it's better to let him sit out the next friendlies for Ecuador.
Apparently Chelsea are monitoring Deinner Ordonez and Joel Ordonez for CBs. It shouldn't have taken the Bayern match for them to realize their defense has always been shaky.
Deinner Ordońez turns 16 next month. It wouldn’t surprise me if he signs a pre contract with a team like Paez and Lerma did.
The kid has a huge ceiling. He reminds me a lot of Hincapie in that he prefers to intercept instead of block (like Pacho). Paez has been doing good in France. He's been playing like a CM and it'll benefit him in the long run.
Deinner looks to use his size and strength. Piero’s main strengths are his anticipation and speed. We’ll have to see how he develops. The ceiling is high.
IDV con la hazaña. They pull through in penalties. I thought they were dead in the water going into the match. Great performance.
Agreed. Considering how dismal the match was in Sangolqui, I was expecting the worst. Good comeback from them. For VEEEEERY long stretches of the game, they were clearly the superior squad. The penalties were solid except for Ibarra who had to add extra drama to the proceedings. Great win, and notch another semis visit for IDV. Tomorrow, I can only hope LDU can hang on. I think the squad is at full fitness. Fingers crossed.
