I created a discord server. Would you guys be willing to join? I feel this forums is a tad outdated with features.

I watched the IDV vs Boca Juniors game. Some takeaways:

-Moises Ramirez made some good saves. He’s made some costly mistakes with the NT but I think he should be the starting GK moving forward. Dominguez and Galindez are in their late 30s. Burrai is no spring chicken himself. There aren’t young GKs that are starting for their respective clubs that come to mind. Napa is riding the bench. Loor starts occasionally but he’s playing in Serie B. Valle had a chance of getting into the conversation but he went to Liga where he rides the bench. Rolando Silva is 29 but he plays for Orense so he’ll be overlooked.

-Joao Ortiz was IDV’s best field player in my opinion. He’s a box to box midfielder. Franco had a decent Copa America but I was surprised that Ortiz didn’t get more playing time during the tournament.

-Justin Lerma is an interesting young player. He’s not ready for the NT but he has a lot of potential.

We havent come too far from the days where Reinaldo Rueda would call Dominguez, Banguera and some random youth GK. Alexi Lemos, Darwin Cuero or calling Adrian Bone. We always seem to have only 2 to 3 real options for GK on the NT and any other always end up being 2nd choice GK in big teams.

I thought the problem was that Ecuadorian GKs weren’t getting opportunities to be starters. So far in 2024 only 5 teams had starting GKs that were foreigners.

I don’t think Real Madrid would be a good fit for him at this time. Rudiger is the starter and they also have Alaba. Piero is better staying with Bayer Leverkusen. He’ll play Champions League. He’s only 22 so there’s no rush to join a big club. His time will come.

Before the expansión of Liga Pro there was a time where the only Starting GK in the whole league where literally Domingez, Banguera and who ever El Nacho had. I think it was Danny Cabezas (The guy who has a whole thread dedicated to how terrible he was lmao). Adrian Bone was getting called to the nt being the 2nd choice gk in Deportivo Quito.

We definitely have more starting gk in the league but those guys would still be 2nd choice gk in any of the top 4 teams in Ecuador. Ronaldo Silva, Walter Chavez, Hamiltom Piedra, Brian Heras. This selección is better than calling up Dida, Banguer and a random youth GK tho. Eventually we will find our Keylor Navas lvl gk.

Napa showed a lot of promise but he made a terrible decision when he signed with Emelec. Loor is another young GK that shows a lot of promise. It’s going to be difficult for him to get playing time with IDV. Ramirez is young so unless he gets sold he’ll be the backup. IDV also signed the Argentinian so in the event Ramirez gets sold Loor will still be the backup. We’ll have to keep an on eye Jhafets Reyes. Bravo called him up to the U20 NT last month.

July is almost over and it doesn’t look like we’ve had any meaningful progress for a head coach. Only rejections and rumours. September is around the corner and I’m sure call-ups need to be placed before that. Makes you wonder if after years of mismanagement there’s a big asterisk beside our team for coaches. You’d think anyone would want to have their hands on this generation of players

They have to clean this shit up. It’s only a matter of time until it’ll end up costing us big time.

My dad said he played in Barcelona a while back. Why wasn’t this caught on?

The only reason this came to light is because some guy was blackmailing him and Bolaños didn’t pay so this guy went to the press. Guy’s name is Huacon I think.

Yes, I did hear of him. Last I heard was that he was arrested for blackmail a couple weeks ago.

Mexico got a coach. Means Almada is somewhat “available.”

How is it different than Reddit? Have never really embraced it.

in other news looks like Preciado might get a shot at the Premier league. Would be a massive step for a guy who’s basically been living as the “best we got without Castillo”

You’re able to text, voice, and video on discord plus upload pics. I’m partial on reddit,no feel like they’re biased and their voting system is not good.

I wonder if all these argentino rejections are because of Alfaro references.

Could be. He was very public about his issues with the FEF. Gustavo Quinteros was too. All of these coaches rejected us stating they want to respect their teams and their contracts. It mid season tho you would think now is a good time to make a move and leave on good terms with any team.
