What are we doing playing teams like Peru... etc. ? Two friendlies in Spain against Peru??? Come on. Look how we lost to Mexico after we had the lead.. look how we lost to USA?? We need experience and to learn from playing tough skilled teams.

We need to play teams like Spain, Portugal, England, Italy, even African teams like Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt. We might win, we might lose some, but at the end we learn and leave stronger.

We are a team that can beat Brazil.. and we have...... look at our latest game with them being so close and by only 1 goal. we are one of the better teams in S.A. up there with Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina.

We need to stop being incosistent. Our game is good and we showed the world that it is not Quito that helps us, but our hard work and skills.

Maybe so, but they should not loose site of the big picture and the big picture should be South Africa 2010.

Nope, the big picture is Copa America, but I do feel the stronger our opponents in friendlies, the better we may come out in it. South Africa will be next. We will be well prepared!

that is exactly what I'm saying we neeed stronger opponents now at days... gone are the days when we were content with out little neighbor games and regular set ups... we need that skillful international experience.

I AGREE but right now we need friendlies against teams who play in south america so they can get back into the rhythm of playing against those opponents...plus, since there are no fifa days remaining before the Copa America starts, it doesn't even make sense to sign up against a team like France or Germany because we won't even be at full strength

I kindly disagree. In everything, including soccer, if you want to improve yourself you first work on your mind. You convince yourself you can do something and then you do it. Ecuador can do this by playing tougher teams. Historically, Ecuador's problem has been that they feel intimidated by the so-called bigger teams. Imagine Ecuador getting used to playing teams like Italy, Holland, England and doing well against those teams. How confident do you think they'll walk into the field before a game against Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, etc.? I don't believe that simply because South American teams play a different brand of soccer, Ecuador all of the sudden would not know how to play them. If they walk into the field with confidence they'll do well.

Honestly I think we should sprinkle in some opponents like Samoa, Faroe Islands, and St. Vincent in order to win a few 10-0 games. Playing great teams and losing 1-0 doesn't do much for your confidence.

    yeah...honestly, a loss is a loss, whether it's to brazil in a 2-1 or 2-0 to haiti...

nonetheless, big time teams can and should only be played on fifa days...like we did against holland? brazil? spain? it does us no good to call up a B team to play a "world cup" style game and then lose horribly 4-0 in the process, we should focus more on winning more games in south america away from home, when we can say that we can win in argentina and brazil in hostile territory then we can start playing teams in europe or high caliber african teams consistently the way brazil, argentina, and even uruguay do...

Once we start winning against teams like the US, N Ireland and Mexico on a regular basis we can talk about maybe playing friendlies with teams like Holland and England on a regular basis!!!

We need to build confidence and going out to get out-played every game won't to it. Ecuador needs to go out and beat Peru and the learn from it; just like I had hope they would from Mex and the US.

It will be a while when Ecuador has regular friendlies that include Euro giants.
