mailed it from san diego on wednesday. hopefully the pony express will refresh with some water and get it there by tomorrow.
It's Flint, not Flynt. I hate it when people reference stuff through secondary media and get it wrong. No one should be referencing In Like Flint who hasn't actually seen the film.
D'oh! It was a typo! Honest! And I have seen both Flint movies. Even my phone at work rings like Flint's! Now if only I could find a watch like his.
Maybe if Andy started publishing naked photos of Heather Mitts he'd be in like Flynt. Larry, that is.
I really hate to continue this off topic discussion. But I was under the impression that it's, "in like Flynn." As in, Erol Flynn the old actor. I've never heard anyone say, "in like Flint."
Then you've never seen the movie, a major inspiration on Austin Powers. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...1/104-0851912-9444734?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846
In Like Flint, from IMDB. A movie starring James Coburn as super-spy Flint. A sequel to Our Man Flint. A James Bond spoof, kind of like Austin Powers.
May have been at some point. The saying "In like Flint" only became popular (again?) because of Austin Powers. There are some In like Flint and Our Man Flint references in those films. BTW: In Like Flint and Our Man Flint have got to be among the worst spy films I've ever seen, right down there with xXx. And the phone sound is not the sound of Flint's phone, it's the sound of the presidential line to the Chief's office. This is the same tone that you hear when Austin's car phone rings. I'm more of a Peter Sellers as Evelyn Tremble (aka James Bond 007) type myself.
I also thought the saying was "In like Flynn". I thought when people said "flint" it was like when they said: real - a - tor nuc-u-lear I could care less. Or when my sister actually said "Et tu, Bluto" I am still waiting on my issue. Do we get a notice when our subscription is up?
The dirty secret is that ECG#18 is not finished. The cover is, and that's when I begin hawking an issue. I plan to start printing this evening. As far as subscribers, the number beside your name is the last issue of your paid subscription. I keep bumping that up for contributors, but anyone is welcome to send in money whenever they feel like it.
Just to drag this conversation back on topic: Emerald City Gazette #18 - Volume 4 Number 1 - March 2003 Caracas Edition - Interview: David Sternberg, Fox Sports World - Team by Team 2003 MLS Preview - 2003 WUSA Preview - Doug Chapman: Happy Valley 10 Years On - and more
This is just to say but 'tis true. The phrase "In Like Flynn" is in reference to Erol Flynn the actor. The movie title In Like Flint is a play on words derived from that original expression.
