Cyprus has become a LOT stronger over the years. Especially at home they can be tough opponent.

Didn't Cyprus beat Spain in WC 2002 qualifying?

I would say that Wales over Finland WOULD be an upset considering that they are playing on the road. Wales has come a long ways and can be tough. Also, I was too surprised that Armenia came back, a stunning result.

No, Cyprus went 2-6-2 in Group 2 with Ireland, Portugal, Holland, Estonia, and Andorra. Spain was in Group 7.

Ok, I still see Croatia tied 0-0 AT HOME against Estonia. Absolutely shocking.

Is there any way of watching the Euro qualifiers in the US? Is FSW gonna show any?

Your right, but I checked and Cyprus did beat Spain, just not in WC qualifying. In Euro 2000 Qualifying they beat Spain 3-2 in Cyprus.

Looks like Estonia is pulling out a nil all draw against Croatia. Very shocking. Still no score with Lithuania v Germany in the 21st minute.

Armenia drawing Ukraine is a bit surprising as well.
Seems like this is going to be an interesting qualification.

Re: No mention of the Ukraine game....

Surprising yes, but not really an upset. Finland and Wales are the C- and D-teams of group 9, and you really can't talk about upsets at that level.

Really interesting is that Estonia (FT), Latvia (45') and Lituania (20') all have 0-0 against WC02-teams. Faroe Islands' and Armenia's 2-2 against what is supposed to be superior teams is also fun to see.

Sweden, in the game I'm actually watching, (without Svensson, Ljungberg and Larsson) is struggling against Latvia and this can by painfull.

Yeah, I am. Well, I guess I'll have to settle for highlights on FSW. That's if they even show any.

Just got back from Austria's 2-0 thrashing of Moldova at Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. At the moment it seems like Austria couldn't score in a brothel. Both goals were Andi Herzog penalties (both deserved), but Austria mostly looked like they'd run out of ideas. A lot of miscommunication, a lot of bad passing and lost possession. And a lot of booing and whistling in the second half (Austrian fans sure are unforgiving). All of this begs the question:

Q: When is a victory not a victory?
A: When you only win 2-0 at home against Moldova.

Austria is going to have a really hard time in this group. I can't see them performing well against Holland and Czech unless they rediscover their scoring touch. Maybe they should bring Toni Polster out of retirement.

Plus here's a fun fact I learned today: Austria has never qualified for the European Championships, although they've had several trips to the World Cup.

There's something listed tomorrow as an "International Match." I'd imagine it's one of these qualifiers on tape-delay but there's no way of telling.

I'll have to check out RAI and other ethnic news shows late tonight. Might get lucky and see some highlights that way.

What a disaster for Ireland, this could finally lead to McCarthy going. That was an embarassment.
