Hmm, I hope this doesn't make him anymore lazy, but yes, Wenger with his 'director of football' hat on, has been busy

Saw this mentioned on Fox Soccer Report. I think they said 5 years. But much of the stock footage they showed seemed to be of Lauren.

Anyway, I'm holding out a little hope that we might see Eboue as a midfielder/winger next year. He may be one of the best crossers we have. Not that there's a lot of room in our midfield but I'd like to see a more solid defender play RB.

I like the guy, but hopefully they put a clause in his contract that fines him for every blatant dive he makes. He makes He Who Shall Not Be Named look like Jim Brown in one of those old NFL highlight reels where guys just bounce off him and he stays up!

Ken Friar as well, since he handles the contract language and what not.

I actually think he's really cleaned up that part of his play since he came back from injury. This is a good move i feel. There is no denying his talent and athleticism, is just inconsistency thats been hurting him. I also don't forsee a move to the midfield for him. He will stay at RB and work on defense and soon be one of the best backs in the game.

With Eboue and Hyote, i think we have enough depth at RB position .. Hyote is improving and it'll turn out to be a good competition between them, hopefully ..

I loved arseblog's take on this.....Hoyte seems more steady on defense, Eboue is better going forward....too bad there isn't some way to create an Eboue/Hoyte mutant.....an Ebouyte or an Hoyboue.

    :D

^WE might end up with a player who becomes clueless when he is around the half way line .. :D

Good grief. I'm not an Eboue basher by any means, but that is some lavish praise!

Bloody hell, what are the chances of there being 2 players in the Prem called Emmanuel Eboue? cos he certainly isn't talking about ours :p

Well, I guess that begs the question: Who's the best RB in the league?

Agreed. However, I do think Eboue has the talent/skills to be one of the best RBs in the Prem. When he concentrates, he's quite good, very speedy, rarely gets skinned in one on one situations. The highlighted word, though, is the problem as right now he's very prone to not concentrating on his positioning, etc.

I am so very happy to hear about this long term deal. When eboue is on his game there's no question he's one of the finest, not just in England, but around the globe. It's just a matter of him continueing to progress and grow.

I still remember his performance against Robinho in last years champions league vividly, it was marvelous. Not to mention this season against ManU the second time around. Ronaldo was closed down all first half by Clichy so he switched to the left to try to get something on Eboue and failed, wonderful stuff.

I'm not a huge fan of Eboue but you're right. When he's on, or when he tries, or when he remembers that his primary role is as a defender, then he can be great.

If he is our #1 RB next year, I'll be OK with it as long as he keeps his defensive concentration & consistency up. Hoyte's gotten quite good too, so as someone said before, they may keep each other honest.
