I was one of the folks that doubted the ability of the ownership to pull this together. Not only do they have a really good team on the field, but they pulling in some great numbers of in the stands and moving forward with the stadium. I stand corrected and since we're talking about Texas, can I get my crow bbqed, with a side of beans and some brisket? LOL Hope they are able to make a profit and fund his worthwhile park.
While I think the season has been better than anyone in San Antonio could hope for. I think Mr. Hartman had a good gameplan to bring soccer to SA. Like everyone else lets see how the long term plan will work out. But I do think San Antonio has shown it will support at least Div II soccer, and maybe with the right timing the MLS.
I shared your doubts, and share your hopes, but I'm not ready for my bbq crow yet. First year teams often do very well. Not this well, but very well. Brand-new stadiums also usually do very well, so they have set themselves up nicely for two very good seasons, probably three. That may be all they need. But I'm going to hold off ordering my crow until the end of the third year. I take the long view. Maybe they can marinate that crow for a while.
Well, I just came here to say the same thing. I was pretty vocal about my worries about Gordan Hartman. Looks like I've been wrong. Toyota Field looks fantastic and the support has been phenomenal. I was wrong.
For sure the idea of a D2 team "funding" a special needs children’s park was crazy and laughable, I did not think this was going to go any where, oh how wrong was I.
I would like to think that this working could be a great model for other sports teams. And, if anyone is ever here in San Antonio and you have young kids, you've got to take them by Morgan's Wonderland...it's a fantastic park! What a good cause.
