DC vs Dirty Jersey 3 times in one week and West Ham v Millwall on Sunday. I'm gonna be all out of hate come Monday.
This is going to be the first Millwall match for me. Too bad this is in the First Division and we wont be able to watch it.
Game on. Pearce already taken a knock and needing some attention. West Ham possession in and near Millwall area cleared away. Millwall looks to attack and wins a corner. Wise to take. Cleared. Defoe chases and forces a Millwall error. 6 minutes in, 0-0.
The tackles are flying in fast and furious already, according to the announcers. Millwall with another early error but cannot capitalize on it. Millwall counters and James makes a "brillant" save with is feet. "an important save from David James" leads to a corner. West Ham break out with Defoe and Lee leading the pack. Offsides. West Ham cross into the box ... no shot but we maintain possession.
Header from Mellor is not too far wide. Best chance so far. Pearce still not moving that freely ... trying to massage his back. Corner for Millwall, taken by Wise. Cleared by Dailly. Defoe shot, defelcted high into the air, Warner with the collection. 12 minutes gone, 0-0.
Wise nicks it off Defoe but gets clattered by Lee to the appaulse of the West Ham supporters. Free kick, taken short. Etherington whips in a cross that is "too easy" for the Millwall keeper. Connolly with some space but his header has no power. Pass from Lee. Things slowing down a bit. About 19 minutes in, still 0-0. West Ham try to go over the top but Warner is off his line to collect the ball
Defoe to Connolly back to Defoe ... allows a West Ham shot that is corralled by Warner. Tight angle and should have squared the ball. Etherington with a dangerous cross into the box, nothing positive comes from of it. Appeals for two free kicks are denied. Referee keen to let the play be as free flowing. Lee with a ball to Connolly!!! Composed finish with is left foot rewards an equisite run. GOAL!!!! WEST HAM GOAL BY CONNOLLY!
West Ham 1 Millwall 0 Cross ... Pearce almost with an own goal. Goes out for a corner, Wise met with a chorus of jeers. Right foot, cleared away. Mellor breaks ... left footed shot saved by Warner. Connolly wanted the ball but Mellor did not see him. James makes a save off a Millwall header. West Ham offsides, ball just played at the wrong time. Sir Trevor is animated today than he has been in a while. Blood must be flowing b/c of the derby. 30 minutes gone, West Ham 1, Millwall 0
Defoe on his left foot, too many turns and Wise picks his pocket. Ball all the way back to James. Millwall with a lot of possesion but very little of a threat in this first half. Action slowing down again. Each side just knocking it around. Millwall throw at the moment. Millwall booking for a challenge on Mellor. Craig with the foul. West Ham free kick. 40 minutes in, 1-0 to the Irons. "Game is sedate almost really."
Well, things have gone down hill since that last remark. Connolly with a booking, he will now be suspended due to accumulation of points, no idea what he did. Actually had won a free kick and then trotted into a Millwall defender that sparks a confrotaion between James and Wise. A needless booking. Connolly heads it down for Mellor by Warner gets there first. Again, the announcers go on about the booking of Connolly, needless and boneheaded.
Over the top challenge by the Peeters. Not sure if it earned a card or not. Defoe ... picks up a ball, should score ... cleared off the line. Mistake put Defoe in and he had the shot cleared off line. Crap! Halftime
Second half KO Repka has one of his moments of madness but is fouled so it works out all right. Some more neat skill be Repka ... Nethercroft pounds Connolly Defoe volley, rebound comes to Etherington ... off the post!! Oh the humanity Again, Defoe makes a run ... declines to pass to Connolly on his left, has a go and nothing comes of it.
West Ham 1, Millwall 0 Shot comes in from Millwall's Ifill. Saved by James. Long hopefull ball in by Millwall force West Ham to defend. Eventually a goal kick is rewarded. Mellor is off for Alexandersson Poor kicking from James gives Millwall a thow in. West Ham long ball marshalled out by nethercroft.
Defoe fouled, free kick for West Ham on the edge of a reasonable shot. Quinn may have a go from here. Strikes is against the wall, West Ham maintain possesion. Shot wide by Connolly. Whoops, got suckered into paying attention to Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's back to the match. "In all honesty it has not been the greatest of second halves"
West Ham looking and sounding sluggish, Lee with a give away. Alexandersson with some good work ... West ham shot cleared away for a corner. Quinn to take. Decent corner cleared away by Millwall. Quinn with the ball wide again ... cannot get a cross in. Pearce had a chance to have a go but does not. west ham loose possession. Etherington with a nice turn, tries to find Defoe but Millwall clears
A second West Ham corner as Craig pokes the ball out. Quinn to take, inswinger. Dailly heads it wide. Goal kick. Free kick West Ham, Repka to take. James beats Peeters to a ball in the box, plays ball long forward. Left foot cross ... Millwall have scored, James had no chance. GOAL Millwall ... *#*#*#*#ers.
*#*#*#*#ers! Millwall attacking again! Ifill wide of the mark. West Ham fans begin to make some noise urging the Irons to wake up. Millwall goal scored by Tim Cahill on a free header
A 1-1 draw. Not the end of the world but we could have used those two extra points, especially since it was at home.
