This game is currently at halftime. SJ leads 1-0 - Alvarez (43rd) - P-40 draft pick Game can be followed via live matchtracker @: http://www.sjearthquakes.com/matchtracker/index.htm If this doesnt work, go to sjearthquakes.com and follow their links. Pretty expirmental looking lineup going for the quakes. James
Wow, I gotta tell you the Earthquakes could have done more to market this. While I admit that I don't go around looking for news on them, I knew absolutely nothing about this, and it's in my back yard (quite literally, my cul-de-sac backs into USF).
Is Jack Edwards the new Earthquakes Matchtracker guy?!? When did SJ sign Jonny Walker?? Landon is listed as a sub...he made it back from yesterday's USMNT match for this? This kid is hardcore...
You had to have heard a great roar from the crowd on the goal! Ok, that was cheap shot. Maybe you can get in for free after halftime? James
Walker is unsigned. Donovan, don't you remember he played for the Earthquakes the day after the US lost to Germany in the World Cup! He is hardcore, and probably want in the game really bad to unload his frustration with Argentina on to Shanghai. James
So he plays in Florida...flies across country to sit on the bench vs a team from China...then he is flying to Jamaica for Wednesday's match? That can't be correct...
2-0, Tennyson. And somewhere, Futsal/Bill Archer is doing the cabbage patch. Damn the crashes for robbing us of that thread.
Maybe he'll sign a contract with the Earthquakes before game's end.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
4-0, now - Waibel with an assist from Jamil Walker. Someone's getting a strapping behind the woodshed.
It looks like the good guys will head home victorious today!       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
4-0 final. It seems like Arturo Alvarez had a great day. It's hard to tell how either keeper did from Matchtracker, we'll just have to wait for some fan to post what happened. I'm very interested to get some opinions from people who saw the game...
Theres more people at that match than at a regular season match at Spartan I bet these Chinese players are really happy that they flew halfway across the world for this...another thought...This team is in the Chinese First Division? Paul Gascoine just signed for a Chinese Second Division squad...I bet he's excited...
Quakes win 4-0, goals from Alvarez, Tennyson, Jamil Walker, and Waibel. I'd be curious to hear from anyone who attended the match how did the other Walker (Johnny) look - the matchtracker made it sound like he didn't have the greatest game, bobbling at least one ball, and being "frozen" on a couple other opportunities.
"Theres more people at that match than at a regular season match at Spartan" Ooooh, low...low... " bet these Chinese players are really happy that they flew halfway across the world for this...another thought...This team is in the Chinese First Division? Paul Gascoine just signed for a Chinese Second Division squad...I bet he's excited..." True. I was thinking the same thing. "Wow," I thought, "if an MLS "B" side can defeat a starting first division Chinese squad, then how badly does Gascione's second-division squad suck?"
Sounds like Dunivant and Young Arturo had pretty decent games. I'd like to hear how they actually played along with Mullan, Tennyson and Jonny W. from anyone who was there.
Just came from the game.. The Chineese team definately played a B squad from what I heard from some USF players who wathced them train the other day. Said the better players didn't even play in the game. They all looked fairly young. -Quakes pretty much had the game in control the full 90 minutes but could tell they were a bit rought around the edges. can be expected as it is pre season. Quakes were more physical and forcefull. Corrales missed atleast one sitter in the first half. Tennyson looked preety decent. -Jonnie Walker had one good save as he came out high and grabbed a ball in traffic. He was frozen on one shot that went wide, let one roll betwwen his legs before recollecting and seems to play pretty far off his line. But to be fair, he wasn't tested with anything too serious. -Watching matches at USF is more ebjoyable that Spartan. I like seeing the Quakes utilize the wider pitch.
Just curious, if you know, does the Chinese team have other matches scheduled over here, and what point in there season are they? I'm surprised the flew over and used all there reserves. James
i don't know if they're going to play any other pro teams, but I was sitting next to a guy who played for USF, and I heard him say that they had a match scheduled against the shanghai shenua team. however, he didn't say what day.
