I'm an Earthquake fan and came up from San Diego. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know how many Eearthquake fans would make the trek to the HDC. I was amazed from the moment I got inside the gates. Earthquake Blue everywhere. Happy fans, smiling fans, excited fans. Confident fans. And once the game started, fans that made a lot of noise. Club Quake was incredible but there were Earthquake fans throughout the stadium who were all fantastic. A huge thumbs up to the much-maligned Earthquake supporters who turned out in such force and number. You made a very memorable day that much more memorable (and I know how much the team and organization appreciated you as well). Peace.
Yes, y'all were AWESOME on TV. With every goal you were incredible! And the tears!! It was great. Y'all were LOUD, you were BLUE, and you brought home the championship!! Thanks for a GREAT year!
Yes, you guys really were awesome out there. Club Quake corner was FILLED with blue, signs, chants, drums and all that good stuff!! GREEAT job guys!
Kudos to the Chicago fans too. They were really supportive and enthusiastic. Despite the travel, they turned out well.
Kudos to the Fire and Earthquake fans for showing up in great numbers. You all looked and sounded great on tv. It was a fun game to watch.
Totally concur. Given the distance, an equally fantastic turnout by the Fire fans. The supporters made for a great environment to watch a thrilling soccer match.
Yeah, I'm an Equake fan in Los Angeles and have seen them three times prior. It feels really good to not be the only one in three sections to root for SJ. You guys were great.
You're payback for those Bay Area Galaxy fans who suddenly come out of the woodwork when the Gals come to town.
The Home Depot Center was a blast--the place is incredible, well, run, and friendly. (Except for beer prices). The Chicago fans were classy. We drove home from the game. It was hillarious to stop in a diner about 150 miles up on I-5 and see the place full of people wearing Earthquakes gear. Just a great day all around.
A clan of blue We had a wonderful weekend in LA. Great energy, great nightlife. Beautiful, polite people. Pleasant, fun and warm service from every counter, desk, bartender, waiter, stripper... ridiculous free upgrades left and right. Even the traffic was light. At one point a small group of us were trying to cross Sunset - not at a crosswalk - and all four or six lanes of traffic stopped dead for us. No one honked, no one swore. They just wanted us to cross safely. This was at night. The cops were nice. They let us do shotguns in the lot. Even the bemused Galaxy fans were gracious. L.A. said "our casa is your casa," graciously ceding their new soccer cathedral to us - and it was a far better stage than even our home field for the Quakes finest moment - a dream final capping a fairy tale season. Yet there we were on an unreal, warm, sunny, crystal blue day, a Perfect Day, having just creamed the Chicago Fire to win the MLS Cup. A clan of blue and there we were bouncing up and down chanting "LA Sux! LA Sux! LA Sux!" It was beautiful. -
I posted the above on the Fire board too BTW. Flash Man, report in first person please. At least until you switch to Chivas you're One of Us.
FlashMan, you will be in a similar dilemma with those Crew fans who live in Cleveland. It's funny how we choose what team to cheer for. If I had been living in LA when MLS started, I probably would be a Galaxy fan today. Fortunately, I was a Santa Clara resident in 1996 ;-) Heck, in 1995 I was living in New Hampshire. I was a year removed from possibly becoming a Revolution fan. And in 1994 I was living in Poughkeepsie, NY so I'm two years removed from being a Metro. I just realized I move too much. Anyways... Although I am back in LA and I regularly attend Galaxy games when I am not flying up to San Jose to attend Quake games, my heart forever remains with the men in blue. I support MLS by going to Galaxy games (I love the HDC) but I am secretly cheering against the home team. Perhaps, you may end up doing the same thing when and if San Diego gets their team. I am looking forward to the SJ-SD and LA-SD rivalry games. The California Cup "rules" may have to change to include match-ups with the new in-state team.
