All the Prince, Duran Duran, A Flock of Seagulls, and Madness you can get. Oh, and David Lee Roth. Can I add The Cars? Jennifer Beals, or Terri Nunn from Berlin!
Does this mean that we have to wear our Daisy Dukes shorts? I don't think the world is ready for that again.
Only the ladies my friend--old school Daisy over Jessica Simpson. Though, they might say those short shorts the players wore during the 80s might reel them in.
Well, the retro red jersey will come out for that one, for sure. I could also grow my hair out to as long as it was in the 80's (white man with a fro) but we're talking weeks, not months.
My brother wore a lot of parachute pants and ripped shirts. I wore jeans and T-shirts. (I guess I'm a relic, cause I STILL wear jeans and T-shirts!!!!)
I asked my wife what we should wear for 80's night and she remarked "I'm sure there are a number of my current clothing choices that would be considered 80's compliant."
Twisted Sister anyone? Or these guys! (A Flock of Seagulls) openthegate needs to crank out all those cheesy 80s tunes. It was enough with 70s night last year!
These guys haven't been missing many meals. I'm going to break out my shoehorn and try to slip into my red jersey but I'm afraid I'm going to look like an overstuffed sausage about to explode
It was enough that "I Wanna Rock" was used in the Spongebob Squarepants movie--even more so that Motorhead has one of their songs used.
I would think that if the fans have to dress up in 80's clothes, then the Quakes should wear their throw back kits and be in all red with white and black trim. Or they could go with their old all white kits with the leopard print down the sides that they wore at least one year when the NASL was still splitting time between indoor and outdoor.
So the Quakes web site says "Stick around after the game for a FREE concert, with live 80's music". Does anyone know who the band is? I would guess if it's a "name" band of any kind they'd either announce it or say it's a "surprise". But if they're just not going to say, maybe it's just a local cover band? Or maybe they haven't actually booked it yet?
My guess would be the Greg Kihn band. He lives and works in the bay area (KFOX 98.5) and he recently performed on NBC's Hit Me Baby One More Time. Just pure speculation, folks. "Our team's in jeopardy, jeopardy, baby, ooh..." On second thought, maybe Greg Kihn would be a bad idea.
Could be. By why wouldn't they announce that? It might (gasp!) make people more likely to come to the game. Since they're not telling or even saying it's a "surprise", my guess is something more like Joe Sharino or some other local cover band. I can't imagine that they haven't booked the band yet.
The pre-game and intro music better be 80's as well. Maybe the Quakes can be introduced by "Whip It" by Devo. The other team can be lead in by "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" by Culture Club.
