Alex Wood. Just 21 games for Forest in 1936/37 before dropping down to Colchester. Meanwhile the Forest squad met up for their first pre-season training session.
Erm, they also had the joint 5th-best defence in the Prem. Hard not to see that playing a major role too.
If he goes to Forest, it's hard to see him not getting a pay rise in the process as I doubt they're signing him to add depth to what's already a pretty decent squad, especially when even his current €2.6 million salary would put him on about 70% more than lock starter Elanga. It's not hard to see him getting €3 million. In fact it's hard to seen him not getting it.
I'm hoping (from an anti-Forest perspective) that last season was all about Chris Wood going on a tear. I remember one of our players scoring something like 30 goals in 26 games, including 4 hat-tricks, in the second half of the season to win us promotion. I don't think he scored more than 15 goals in a season in the rest of his career.
Everton had the 4th-best defense and finished 13th. Forest’s place in the table was almost entirely down to Wood having an out-of-nowhere career year at 33 years old. Once his goalscoring dried up, so too did their fortune.
He really came on at Juve this season. 43 appearances and 6 goals. That's very solid. He has a good role, playing CL next season, historic club.. NFFC feels like a downgrade [even with the economic strength of the EPL] and I don't care for the move or the club.
There is also the 38 Scudetti, 15 Coppa Italia, 2 Intercontinental Cups, 3 UEFA Cups, Cup Winners Cup, Intertoto Cup.
Neither ever won a Supporters' Shield! I am very unconvinced that Tudor is convinced that Weah is a player he values. I'd normally prefer he stay at Juve (since I'm sure he's going to call this weekend to get my advice) but in the 2 months Tudor was in charge, it didn't feel like Tudor felt Weah had a real place in the formations.
Oh yeah?! Well Juve have lost the Champions League final over 3 times as many as they have won! You'll never sing that!
Oh, yeah? Well my dad is George Weah. He can beat up your Dad (just like he broke Jorge Costa's nose in in the tunnel and was still given the FIFA Fair Play award for that year), score beastly solo goals, AND he was President! Plus, he played for Chelsea and Manchester City before it was the cool thing to do! . . Says Timmy.
1937824486461444563 is not a valid tweet id Weah wants close to €4m/yr salary from Nottingham Forest. He currently earns €2m/yr at Juventus.
As a striker? I think his best position is probably wing back in a 5. He definitely can do the job as a winger and has gotten time as a 9. I think the challenge of the step up in athleticism in the PL will be great for him whatever position he plays.
Parts of this video – in particular the quote in which Weah describes Italian cuisine as "so-so" – are starting to make headlines in Italy. So perhaps an exit might be in his favor... https://www.ilgiornale.it/news/calcio/i-due-juventini-detestano-cucina-italiana-2499891.html https://www.corriere.it/sport/calci...no-7c09b63b-3a33-4ac4-88a3-43b7ccc25xlk.shtml
He could be a very effective overlapping back. I think he could use better tight-dribbling skills, but his ability to push the ball into space, his speed and the low, hard far-post cross would do a lot of damage if he were on the right team. But I doubt it happens.
