I've been meaning to ask if Tudor strongly prefers a steeply-tilted pitch, with forward-facing players in an arched formation.
I think by now everyone here knows that I'm partial to asymmetrical design. Most managers seem to recognize eventually that Weah's versatility is more of an asset than a detriment, so here's hoping.
Started half of their games last season and spilt time between evenly between winger and fullback in those starts
Going off of his most recent full year in charge of a club at Marseille, it appeared that he prefers a balanced team. That would track so far with his team selection at Juve so far, IMO. With that said, there was 2 occasions where he went tilted to a higher left side by having Nicolo Savona as the RWB to try and ensure results.
His % of starts dropped quite a bit with the arrival of Tudor however, but it's a pretty small sample set and a guy picking up a team on the fly, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it, but it's something to watch for sure.
NIco Schira is reporting that Nottingham Forest are in talks for Weah and Mbangula. Fabrizio Romano is reporting the same. Still early and not in advanced stages atm.
Saw that Forest has an agreement with Juve and is talking to Weah trying to agree personal terms… I don’t know about this move
Wait a tic, I've seen this story before. Tomorrow, the Italian rags will say something like, "Forest has reached an agreement with Mbangula but Weah's enterouge is demanding too high a salary and is holding up the deal"
I'm not sure what Forest will be doing next year, but I really want Timo to be a consistent starter and succeed now that the USMNT is 12 months out of the World Cup. He probably wants to start regularly at RW/LW and that shouldn't happen at Juve, so maybe finding that at Forest could be that opportunity. I think he is better than Hudson-Odoi, so it's possible at NF. I will miss his versatility at Juve if he does transfer.
I think Juve are ready to make a quick buck and Weah is one of their only players more valuable than his wage bill on their roster, he's gone if they come in with a competitive bid and salary imo.
1937257585951793352 is not a valid tweet id Nottingham Forest has reached an agreement with Juventus for Tim Weah & Samuel Mbangula. Now the Premier League side is working to find an agreement on the contracts with the two players.
NFFC is in Conference League qualifiers. They had a pretty good season last year and were in the mix for CL before they fell off, if I remember correctly.
Forest. Hmmm. I hope to goodness Weah can break the mold of Yanks flops at Forest. The lost is long...... John Harkes, Ben Olsen, Robbie Finley, Ethan Horvath, Gio Reyna, and Matt Turner. Eric Lichaj is by far and away the most successful Yank at Forest with 200 appearances over 5 years. Weah is a damn good player and if anyone could break that mold it's him. I think his game translate very well to the EPL.
i dont like this. juve, for me, is just a bigger club than forest. idc what the current wage scales are....juve has aura and prestige that nottingham never will. furthermore, NF has been horrible to the recent americans that have signed there.....reyna, turner, fletcher etc..... i dont like this move
Forest is also run by an over-emotional gangster who’s prone to outbursts, so that doesn’t bode well for their future stability. Neither does having European play as a team that had a negative xGD in the league last season, good for 13th in the league. A 34-year-old Chris Wood isn’t going to save them with 20 goals again. They’re primed for a huge regression, and not just to the mean. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them in the relegation discussion late into next season.
Last I looked.... Weah's wages were around $2.8M per season. Good for something like 15th, 16th, or 17th highest earner at Juve, His $2.8M at Forest would be in the top 8-10. Forest have a handful of guys above $4.5M and a ton of guys in the $2-3M range. I get that Juve has prestige and all that but Weah (like McKennie) is a jack of all trades, a master of none at Juve. We had a really nice and fairly productive season but he was played in multiple positions. That's good and bad. Good in that you have a place and trusted. Bad in that it's tough to get a rhythm because you are tasked with different things week to week in different positions. IIRC, Weah is on record saying he prefers playing a traditional wing and forward as opposed to be deployed as a fullback and wingback.
Yes but only because Chris wood had the season of his life. They have some good players for sure but I can’t see them finishing top 6 this year…maybe 7-14th spot.
It depends, if it's 20m for Weah and Xm for Mbangula, it will be a great deal. If it's 20m for both players, It wouldn't be worth it IMO. Juve bought Weah for 10m and Mbangula is a young Belgian who provided 7 goals contributions in 935 minutes. I would say that's worth more than 10m.
Oh yeah? Has Juve ever won the UEFA Supercup? I mean, more than once? Ok... how about... the Charity Shield! Juve has NEVER won a Charity Shield. And don't even get me started on FA cups... I'm a bit afraid NF is in for a sophomore slump season - which is kind of the easiest prediction ever after playing out of their minds most of last year. But as long as Weah gets good consistent minutes - go where the money's green... or whatever colour it is wherever you go!
Ethan had a really nice spell at Forest to help get them promoted, but yes, then was treated pretty awfully by them. Totally agree on Forest being the club of doom for American players. To the point where I'm surprised they want to bring in another one
Don’t really like this deal for Weah. Not likely to start unless Forest is selling the other wingers. Unless he is going as a fullback.
For those claiming Juventus is a much more prestigious club, it should be noted that Juve and Forest have won the same amount of European championships.
