Good recap. You forgot one of his crosses should have been headed in on a free header. Guy was wide open but missed the goal.
Yeah, I thought he was pretty good. That one cross that led to a near miss was the highlight, but he was involved plenty outside of that, too. He wasn't forcing anything, and he also wasn't under a ton of pressure given that Juve were up a man.
Good 40 minutes for Timmy. He always has his best games playing with Cambiaso altho Cambiaso wasn't totally dialed in today. Weah should be getting a lot of minutes with Motta if he continues playing like he did today. I only watched when Timmy came on at 54' but the Thuram guy is a total wash out in mid for Juve. They had him further up field playing with Vlaho for a bit. He just drags his feet around the pitch looking like he's about to fall over. Put Gio into this Juve midfield for situations like they saw today and everybody goes home happy.
Weah with Juve's second goal. Goals galore in the first half. 1850593242745622756 is not a valid tweet id
This was a really exciting game - Juve never quit. Yildiz just walks on the field and is like "how you like me now?" Bang-bang.
He was pretty average or poor most of the game tbh, other than being in the right place on the goal. Had a bad give away in the midfield that led to a Inter goal.
Disagree. I thought he combined well and tracked back nicely. His goal was well taken, and he missed a fantastic goal by less than a foot right before half. On his giveaway, he sprinted back to tackle the ball away, then Kalulu decided to lose his mind and kick on Inter player leading to a penalty.
1yard out from goal he better not have missed. And fair point on the nice shot, almost hit the inside of the upper 90's. But no way did he combine all that well, gave the ball away many times, his passing and combination play is very poor compared to the caliber of player out there today. He often looked confused and nervous with the ball at his feet. You can blame Kalulu but Weah has to take some responsibilty for a cheap give away that led to his defense being put under pressure. Yildiz came in for him and hit a brace. When everyone is fit i dont see Weah with alot of playing time. He is maybe the 5th choice winger. Yildiz, Gonzalez, Conceicao, Koopmieners all ahead of him.
Not sure why you have such a negative view of Weah. It's odd. The guy has played five different positions in his time at Juventus No matter where he is on the depth chart at any one of those positions, he will get minutes because of his versatility.
that give-a-way was terrible and his defensive "action" also put the ball in a needless area near the penalty spot. Doesn't excuse the error by Kalulu, but he was also put in that position because of the needless error. He also scored a goal, so that will alsways help get you on the field! STill seems so hesistant to take on his man and just makes the easy lay-off. Especially when compared to Concecaio.
FWIW, I think I liked him more on the left than the right. Def. worth more looks, especially to give Yildiz a break and try to alleviate some of the weight of the Juve #10.
The Bianconeri took the lead in the first half with Tim Weah and recovered from two goals down after the break, seeing Kenan Yildiz score two goals as a substitute. After his post-match interview with DAZN, Juventus coach Thiago Motta explained why Weah started over Yildiz. “I decided that Weah could give us something important in transitions,” Motta said at a press conference attended by Football Italia.
If Motta feels comfortable with Weah on left as well as the right that's good for his PT. Yildiz looks like the real deal and I can't imagine Weah being 1st choice there in all or even most situations, but Motta appears so far to trust Weah in a couple of slots on the field, which will help his minutes.
great match for Weah: 1 assist (to his bro Wes) and one goal 1851730072920543533 is not a valid tweet id came off after 59'
What's interesting is that this is one of the very first things we heard about the new manager's preferences at the start of this summer -- that he didn't see Weah as a wingback the way Allegri (and perhaps one or two Lille managers) had. The reporting was that Motta instead saw him as a forward, which I assumed at the time meant a center-forward. But whether he meant WF or CF, Weah is clearly much more of a goalscoring threat all of a sudden. Prior to this season, Weah had never scored more than 3 league goals for any team in a single season. He already has 3 goals (and an assist) in his first 3 starts (and first 6 appearances) of the current Serie A season.
I only watched the extended highlights of today's game, but Weah put in two perfect crosses--one from left side and one from the right side. The first cross almost led to a goal and the second one did lead to McKennie's goal.
Weah should be with Juve for a long time, health permitting. He's just a very reliable player and they say everybody likes him. I thought he got a bit of a raw deal with Lille but all's well that ends well and the surgery and re-hab he got with Lille worked out.
Motta wasn't intending to play 3atb which means fb or rf for Tim. Allegri's back line of Gatti, Bremer and Danilo was one of the best in world football. Bremer got injured anyway for Motta so maybe it's just as well that they play that 4 man back line. One advantage is that they could move Cambiaso more into midfield in possession where Juve is at their weakest.
